I passed an evo 8 yesterday with its signature wide-mouth grill and noticed it had its intercooler exposed with no mesh or anything to cover it, which got me thinking about the RA. Has anybody considered dremelling out the plastic grill that hides our intercooler to get that same look? This wouldn't really free up any air flow so functionally you're not gaining anything, it would be purely esthetic. Just for protection i would assume you would put a thin mesh or something in its place so it looks the same but you're not risking a rock blasting through your intercooler. Thoughts?
I think you can take it off without cutting anything. Check this guide:

It is mainly to take off the ring but you have to get off the grill piece first.

you should at least do a light metal mesh like the evo x's have to protect from stones and shit. IC's are to expensive to risk damage

That looks awesome. How did you remove the plastic? Is it easily removed?

Well I guess I am the odd man out as I think this looks cheap and Ghetto and like Ralliart 23 pointed out Intercoolers are not cheap but hey each to his own.
Yeah, it is a bit ghetto looking to me too but I also would like the FMIC to be a bit noticable... I wonder how mesh would look. That has the potential to either look nice or even more ghetto. lol

If you want the FMIC to be more noticeable, then get a bigger one:D
