The day has finally come! I am releasing a front Big Brake upgrade for the Ralliart. This will allow you to run a much larger rotor (14") and a 2-piston Caliper. Stay tuned for the rears! This will work with OEM Ralliart wheels.

http://i152.photobucket.com/albums/s166/NFSEclipseGT/d54718a2.jpg

Parts that you will need to buy on your own:

Rotors (Anywhere from $90 to $300, or buy a used set)
Evo VIII/IX Evolution GSR

OR

Evo X Lancer Evolution GSR
*Must specify which one you are going to use. The smaller rotors WILL require a different bracket.

Calipers (I bought mine for $75)
1997-2004 C5 Chevrolet Corvette (Z06 or standard, it makes no difference)
2005-present C6 Chevrolet Corvette (standard)
2005-present C6 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 6-piston Calipers (MUST BE USED WITH EVO X ROTORS!)

*I am using OEM replacement Corvette pads. They are Carbon-Metallic. You can use whatever you prefer.

Parts that I will supply for this upgrade:

Brackets ($150)
These will be designed later in the week (3/17) and will be laser cut. I am going to extreme lengths to make sure that these are as precise and SAFE as they can possibly be. As I said before, the quality should be outstanding.

Stainless-Steel Brake Lines ($80)
I am under the impression that not enough fluid will reach the calipers to work effectively with the stock lines, but you never know. I will have these custom made for this setup, as these will be what I will be running. As long as the fittings are the same, you should be able to use these with your stock Calipers, if you don't plan on doing this swap. Again, these will be custom made, and they should be plug-n-play.

*I can have rear lines made as well. Expect the price to be the same.

In the future, I WILL upgrade the rear Calipers as well and make a bracket and lines for that setup. That should be done in not so long.

Here is how to order this Upgrade:

Awesome, this would be a great solution since I'd like to upgrade my brakes as well. You mean fronts match only, or fronts and rears? I'd like to have upgraded brakes all the way around.

So far, only the fronts are being done.

Very creative but the one thing on my car I don't want to cheap out on is brakes. Let me know after you have this set up on the car for a few weeks what you think of it. I am interest to know if this solution will affect the front to back brake bias and because these are parts that were not meant to be together because they are off 2 different cars, I want to know if there might be alignment or vibration issues etc..

Never fear, I will eventually come up with something for the rear that is designed for this setup. One thing at a time.

Bump for brackets being done this week. The SS line will be completed as well. They will cost $80 for the front set.

Can you post some pics of your setup. I want to also put my car in a few shows and want the brakes to be seen behind my Evo X GSR rims. So a few pics would be great to see how this looks.

I will definitely post pictures after the brackets come back, hopefully tomorrow, from the laser cutter.

So 2 piston calipers? all the way around? How about newer 4 piston calipers?

It wasn't easy to fit the 2-piston calipers. SSBC makes 3-piston upgrade calipers, though.

The rears are about done. I am using Wilwood single calipers in the rear. The balance should be spot on with those and these C5/C6 front calipers.

If you are looking to upgrade the stock brakes, our brakes are identical to the brake rotors on the Caliber SRT-4. Our rear rotors are also about the same as 2000-2005 Nissan Maxima SE-R rotors, Outlander AWD rear rotors, and there are about 15 other Mitsubishi vehicles with the same P/N's (make sure that they are .38" thick and 10.96" in diameter or there-abouts, not 100% on the diameter, though). The rear brake pads are the bitch. I have the dimensions, but cross-referencing the pad has become a nightmare. I have ditched that entirely. The Wilwood brakes should be about as close to bolt-on as can be.

You could possibly fit Evo X calipers and rotors onto this car, but it would be nowhere near worth it. For the money, it doesn't get any better than this. Believe me, I tried. I wanted Brembo's too.

The pads are fairly aggressive, so the stopping distance difference is noticeable. You would really have to try to fade the brakes with this setup. I expect that once the SS lines are made, the stopping force should be that much better.

I sent the brackets back in to be remade yesterday, so they aren't currently on the car. I am going to have the final product made out of a thicker piece of metal. Next week, both front and rear brakes should be on the car and working.

Ok, Was not sure if you were serious or just messing with us because the Outlander is where they got our brakes from, you all knew that right ?

Thats is correct, & thats my point. I guess I wasnt very clear.
Upgrade brake calipers or BBK for outlander. Since parts for Ralliart are hard to find or very expensive. I have been set back on my funds with my recent incidents so I stopped looking for now...

For reference Example:

Alcon Rally Brake System seems like a great candidate for me.

Bunch of Brembo rotors.

Ok, Was not sure if you were serious or just messing with us because the Outlander is where they got our brakes from, you all knew that right ?

We share part numbers (some of them) with the Outlander. However, we also share them with at least 15 other different vehicles (including several Dodge products and even a Nissan or two). To say that "that is where they got our brakes from" would be incorrect. You can use the parts, but the system that we share our brakes with was around before the Outlander. We likely got our brakes from the same place.

Sorry about that.

I will hopefully have the rear bracket designed this week.

I am still waiting to hear back about the original shipment of brackets and lines. Those should be shipped to me today so that I can get everything out on Friday.

The rears will be done next week. I have a few other products on the docket, as well.

The full Z06 upgrade is like going full retard. It is that big. I saw what the brakes look like in person this morning, and I am speechless. Any pictures that you have seen online do not come close to doing them justice.

NFSLancerRA
05-20-2011, 03:18 PM
The way that it is going to work is as follows:

The C5/C6 base caliper and Evo X rotor conversion for the front will not have a matching rear. It simply is not necessary.

However, for those who opt to go with the C6 Z06 6-piston calipers, there will be a 4-piston rear to match. That setup is what I was referencing above.

hahaha, thats why I originally wanted Alcon for the compact size.
Saving up for Alcon is not practical.

So how much clearance do we have? :)
17" rims out of the question?

I make a bracket that will allow the usage of Evo VIII rotors with Corvette base calipers. That is the only setup that will allow the use of 17" wheels.

The ones that I ordered are EVO X rotors the premium brand from them and got them from rotorpros http://www.rotorpros.net/ and the sock ones comes off once you remove the brackets there are 2 screw holes just just run a bolt into one of them to break the original rotor loose..
