I started with 15% tints all around, K&N Drop In Filter, and Eibach Sportline Springs

Next came the Plasti-dip. I did the nose ring and the window strips. I have had to re-do them once, and I am going to need to do it again pretty soon here. I've decided I'm done with plasti-dip, next time I'm using paint.

Just curious, as I am about to do my chrome bits.
What issues are you running into with Plasti-Dip?

Step three was installing GST Base Tune, and new wheels. I went with Rota Grids 18x8.5 +44. They came with Hancook V12 evos 225/40. I haven't had any problems rubbing, so when it's time for new tires I'm gonna try 235's. And if I still have no issues, then maybe 245's.

The first time I re-did them was my own fault. I got a little imaptient and didn't let it dry long enough. It came out looking pretty crappy, so if you do use it, let it dry overnight. That's a little overkill, but it's the only way to be sure.

It just doesn't hold up that well over time. I have to be very careful cleaning my windows because if brush against the window strips too hard it leaves scratches in the plasti-dip. Also, I hit a pretty big bug and couldn't wash my car right away. It had wedged itself right in between the nose ring and the bumper. When I finally washed it, it had disscolored the plasti-dip and caused it to tear a little.

The stuff is just too high maintenance for me, I want to be able to do it once and not have to worry about it.

Haha... never heard the RG Lancers referred to as a "sweet potato", that's funny.

Looks great dude! I've decided to avoid the Plasti-Dip all together and will have the chrome ring professionally painted black and will be getting the window trim replaced with the all-black pieces from the GSR.

EricS09RA

Install wasn't too bad. Didn't remove the bumper, just raised the car on jack stands and pulled it out from underneath. The main lesson I learned is make sure you have the right couplers before you take everything apart.

The guy I bought the intercooler from told me I would need two 2"-2 1/2" couplers. I was able to use the 2-2 1/2 on the upper side, but it was a complete no go on the lower. We had to make a late run to home depot and used a plumbing pipe coupler. After I test drove the car I could tell the "Home Depot Racing" parts weren't gonna work, as it was already starting to slip off of the intercooler. I was able to get the right coupler this morning so now all is well.

Yeah i bet, He's the guy with the UR exhaust right? Is it similar in size to Cesars? Or more like the AMS and the bigger IC's? It isn't priced all that bad.

EricS09RA
04-26-2011, 06:49 PM
It's actually the other Jose's, the one with the CPE exhaust. It's very similar in size to the X fmic, main difference is the core size. Not sure how it compares to Cesars.

According to evoscan it dropped his intake temp like 20 degrees lower than the x fmic

LOL...its actually red. I bought it off Cesar and I haven't gotten around to repainting. It matches the red "turbo" on the engine cover, so it doesn't look too out of place. When I first put it in, it was rubbing against the heat shield under the hood vent, that's why it's got that spot on it.

MTZL

You can do Zinc coating. But once you start using your brake rotor surface will come in contact with the pad & zinc coating will get eaten up in that area.

Zinc will protect from Rust.

What kind of numbers are you seeing so far compared to your previous setup?

EricS09RA
08-17-2011, 06:50 AM
Not sure what I was running with the previous set up (I'd estimate around 250hp), but I'm currently at 306hp/324tq at 22psi. The tuner said the biggest restriction was my stock CBE...I guess I know what my next mod will be.

I made almost 400whp on a Mustang dyno with the stock CB, just FYI.

A turbo has no break in period. As long as it has oil in it, you are good to go.

My babies not ready for 400...yet :D. I love the way it pulls, but I miss the super crisp shifts of the GST Base tune. Do you think it would be possible for me to insert the shift tables from your base tune into my current tune? Or would that most likely result in bad things?
