If you call SSP you can get there filter and gold fluid for 459 shipped...! Id go with gold personally, especially if your rough on the trans

Holy sh!t that stuff is expensive... how often is the SST fluid needing to be changed again? What's the benefit of using the SSP gold vs DiaQueen?

Yeah when you change your fluid you need 8 quarts though... so you'd need 2 of those containers! I have the ssp filter... its reusable the oem will work but everytime you need to change you will have to buy another one...

Its easier on the trans, from swapping I can feel the smoother shifts! and when it comes to our expensive trans spending a little more here and there trying to keep it from blowing is cost efficient in the long run right?

how hard is it for the filter install and wear does it go?

Ralliart26

easy! remove your stock filter.... replace the filter housing(empty) the line coming from the trans to the cooler you cut and place the ssp filter ;) It comes with everything you need.

^^ exactly what he said easy. however if you happen to have an aftermarket trans cooler like me it does make it a little more complicated, but still not to bad. i also went with the gold fluid from ssp and filter and i love it!!

is it better then oem and how so?

So what's the rule of thumb for changing the SST fluid? I understand that there's no real way to know how much to put in, so whatever comes out, you put the same amount back in.

Just from what i've read it has a lot of extra additives, helps protect your trans from wear and so forth.

When I did it I changed my engine oil too. I drained all the trans fluid out, and using the engine oil 5quart jug, I measured 4quarts and put in 4quarts. then swapped the old oil into the new container. Did the same process with the remaining oil and came up with 7 quarts! I didn't add any extra with my second cooler. Its too tiny to make a difference in fluid.

Good god... you'd almost think it was a regular automatic transmission with all the fluid. I wonder if doing this while the car is still early in it's life (3000 miles) will help prevent possible issues in the future since the whole car is just out of it's true break-in period.

SSTF change is 30,000 miles for severe condition & 60,000 miles for regular condition.

The way anybody drive I presume it will be severe condition.
Reference Maintenance Manual for severe condition definition.

Diaqueen SSTF is about 140$/container which is approx. gallon. You will need two containers. If you got upgraded cooler(s) you would need 3 containers. Ouch! :(

But from what I've read, the SSP will be better on the transmission in the long run than the OEM fluid.

Got my transfluid changed yesterday at the dealership total cost was aprox $350 once you add in labour, the fluid taxes ans enviromental fees etc.. Note: the filter did Not get changed as that would of been close to another $4oo to do that.

Don't know about running longer than the recommended 30k, but as far as transmission life and performance it's been said that the SSP fluid is better. I don't think I've read one complaint about the SSP fluid in either the MR or Ralliart.

I'd stick with OEM if you like your non-replaceable trans Temp Sensor to stay working.
