These definitely weren't caused by rocks impacts....my front bumper is completely free of rock chips (knock on wood)....and the cracks started from the inside (surface is smooth no dents)....some base Lancer owners experienced this problem and their dealers denied warranty coverage saying the cracks were caused by road debris.....I will bring it in to my closest dealership (have 2 open recalls to take care of anyway) and hopefully I can convinced them these are factory defects....

As long as you are using the stock bulbs (haven't changed them to some aftermarket bulb that may generate more heat) and there is no sign of debris impact you should have a convincing case. Back when I worked at a dealer as a service advisor I could always (99% of the time) find a rock chip in a windshield that the customer brought in with a crack. It'll look like a small chip in the glass along the cracked area. The one time I didn't we warrantied it. Good luck.

ouch, yeah looks like bad case of light covers. hope it works out under warranty. BTW, is there really two recalls on the ralliart? i only know of the cable for the hood release.

I called the 1-888 Mitsu number and gave them my VIN and the guy told me I have 2 open recalls...the first one is the hood release cable (most people know this) and second one is the brake booster valve or something like that...

so I brought my Ralliart to the dealer for the recalls and I had them look at the fog light lenses and they agreed that the cracked started from the inside and they were not caused by rock chips....they have to ordered the parts and will replace them for me under warranty....just an FYI

Great news. That's a very odd issue.

Like I said if they can't find any impacts on the lens it should be covered. Glad to know you are getting them replaced for free. Not sure why they cracked in the first place though...like Coolguy949 said, very odd.

yeah....a few Lancer GTS owners have experienced the same thing....too bad they got denied by their dealers because they insisted the cracks were caused by road debris...

In there cases they could have been rock chips. There is only one way to tell, inspect for impact zits.

got a call from the dealer over the weekend.....their warranty rep rejected my claim....he said the warranty doesn't cover anything exterior? wtf? I started a case with the Mitsubishi corporate and a warranty manager will call me back tomorrow. Hopefully I can win this case....and yeah, the dealer service manager agreed with me that the cracks started from the inside since there are not impact marks on the surfaces of the foglights.
