Hey ClubRA,

When I purchased my X MR wheels (18x8.5 +38 with 245/40's), I had my fenders rolled (only rears) by a shop at stock height. When I lowered about 2" all around on coils, I started having rubbing issues in the rear. This is because the shop did not roll the inner lip completely (check photos).

Rather than dealing with the shop, I decided to purchase a fender roller and do the work myself. Recently I was able to roll my rear fenders with no paint issues, cracks, etc [patience is key!]. I like to do everything right the first time around, so I didn't use a mallet, baseball bat, phonebook, and anything else creative you can think of.

Because I achieved great results with the fender roller, I am confident enough to offer fender rolling services in the Union, NJ 07083 area. Although I have little experience, your car will be treated as my own. I will do my best to ensure a clean roll with no paint issues. (I cannot guarantee no paint issues as all cars are different. All precautions in my control will be taken to minimize this risk.)

Most shops around here charge $50-$100 per fender.

My price: $35 / fender

It is not damage in the paint. There is white silicone lining that was removed.

Nice job! Does anyone else have Before during and after shots of their rear fenders getting rolled. I am looking for reference material to send to the bodyshop so they will be a little more prepared when they roll my fenders sometime tomorrow. I need them to see what the fender should look like to properly clear my 245mm rubber on my Evo X GSR rims.

I do Ice racing which is basically like drifting your car almost nonstop because there are not to many straightaways you just stay on the power and slide your car through the corners at speeds up to well what ever you can get away with. What I am trying to say is that I need lots of room in my wheel wells/ Fenders as my suspension is doing a lot of travel in many directions in regards to its normal orientation when stopped or at rest.

These are all the before & after shots I have. Just make sure they roll the lip all the way around. Clearing 245's is no biggie.

Just got my fenders rolled, but the guy who did it rushed the work and left it half assed. He notched the fenders instead of using the actual fender roller. So now my rear fenders have cracked paint and waves in them. Taking it to a friend to have it fixed and done the right way.

Ha, it's a Shi... I mean Chevy.

The Ralliart though... I've never been so excited to get into a car and drive to and from work before until I got it. Just a super fun car to drive, you know? :D

That's my biggest fear with fender rolling... that it's not done right and causes all sorts of paint issues. Is it possible to apply the same black tar-like material that's used when replacing windshields round the inner fender and where the bends are made? Or is there another material you can use to help prevent peeling and rust?

Oh, I know.

I was kind of hoping to get the new focus. Just to see what their "dual clutch" feels like.

^ My buddy said he was going to put some type of material on the inner fender to help reinforce it and prevent rust + cracking like you mentioned. Not sure as to what the actual material is called, but I'll ask him and find out.

Oh nice a Union native! lol. Shoot me a PM, I can help you choose your wheel/tire fitment and let you know whether you need a roll/pull.

If you can? And you think you might ever change your wheels/tires.. You're gonna need a roll, even slight contact with the rear fenders can cause visible exterior damage, so its always worth it to roll.. Sometimes you need to do it 2x, but it's well worth paying for roll over having any 1/4 panel damage... That's bank..

I want to do it so bad but i am afraid of paint cracks on the q-panels. I am lowered and use 235/45/18 on stock wheels for the past two years.

I just rolled my fenders yesterday. there's like a rubbery/plastic lining on the inside of the fender that cracks. but it just pealed off.

I am getting 18x8 48 offset wheels and want to put the tires i have on right now on them (235/45/18). I am afraid i will rub. I am also lowered with swift springs. So far I was lucky even with 4 people in the car I did not rub but I don't want to learn the hard way.

I've worked on multiple cars, many of which were years old, and none had paint issues. Heat and patience is key.

Hit me up and we'll set schedule a day.

I will PM you next week (i am in Wisconsin now). Can you tell me what you think about my desired set up. 235/45/18 on 18x8 48 offset. I am running 235/45/18 on stock wheels. I am lowered with Swift springs. So far no rubbing. One time I did 40 miles spirited driving with three fat chicks and did not noticed any rubbing.

You may get away without a roll. It's always a good idea to roll them as a precaution though. Scraping into your new tires is never good.
