So ive read that we need to roll our rear fenders with evoX gsr wheels when lowered.MY question is that i just picked up a set of gsr wheels and my sportback is lowered with tein s tech. Should i roll the fenders and then mount the wheels or can i mount the wheels and roll the fenders later. With the tein s tech drop how much will the new wheels rub?

You could but run the risk of damage to tires and painted surface of fender arch. I am at stock height and fenders were turning my tires into rubber string cheese before lip was rolled.

You can do whatever you want. I ran into a situation where my tires were rubbing the fenders, recently, and it is unnerving. I'm not sure why you would want to potentially ruin a set of tires like that, but hey, it is your car. Roll the fenders and then put the wheels on.

Do the front fenders need to be rolled as well or just the rears

The fronts should be fine. I had my rear fenders rolled completely flat, and that was that.

This. Also, bring your GSR wheels when you get your fenders rolled to ensure clearance.

Well I just got the rears rolled today.I would have put the gsr wheels on so i could test and make sure they cleared but I have new tires on my stock wheels. The new tires are being moved to the gsr wheels tomorrow so unfortuntly I wont know until tomorrow after the tires are mounted with the wheels if its all good. We rolled the rear fenders flat all the way accros the top of the fender so hopefully the wheels dont rub at all.Im gonna be running 225/40/18 stretched on the gsr wheels

I don't think 225's on the Evo Enkei's would even rub without fender rolling.

your right.I got the wheels mounted on the car with 225s and I can confirm that if you dont roll the fenders youll probably be fine.Unfortunitly i feel the 225s are a little to small for the wheels.some people like the rim poking out but im not a huge fan. When these tires are a ittle worn im gonna def switch to 235/40/18.Thanks for the input everyone

Yea the 225's are way too skinny for the Evo Enkeis.

I'd go 245/40/18 if you plan on rolling your fenders anyway. I put 235/40/18 on my Evo Enkeis, the only reason was because they didn't have 245/40/18 in stock when I purchased them.

I feel the 235/40/18 are kinda "stretched" too much, The lip of the wheels sticks out from the tire a little too much for me but I'm also not a fan whatsoever of anything "hellaflush". ;)

This is what the 235/40/18 in Conti DWS look like on the Evo 10 Enkeis:

Thanks......I do like the way the 245/40/18 look.Im just worried that they wont fit.I rolled the fenders flat.with the 225 there is a ton of space so do you think the 245 will fit

Yes, it will fit with rear fender rolled. I've been running 245/40/18 tires on my GSR wheels for over 10k miles. No problem.

Note: you may want to invest in some mudflaps.
I was kicking up pieces of tires/rocks/loose debris on the side of my RA & lower rear bumper.

Any one know of a good shop where I can have my fenders rolled in Toronto, Canada?

I just got set of gsr wheels. I have set of 235/45/18 that are in near perfect condition. But according to some will not fit because I am lowered with swift springs (my fenders are rolled). So I am trying to decide between 225/45/18 and 245/40/18.

You shoul fit? I just popped on my EVO x BBS with 235/40/18 and I'm lowered and rolled a bit, and haven't rubbed.. You might need a little more roll, and make sure to grind the tabs a bit, or you'll get the noodles!!

I concur with others. I'm on 19x8.5 +38 (same width and offset as stock evo X, and I am lowered on Eibachs and have no rubbing at all with a rear roll. Front is untouched. And I am on 245/35/19

so what do you sugest 245/40/18 or 225/45/18 also should i try to mount the tires i have now 235/45/18. they are currently on my oem ralliart wheels and i have no rub at all.

245a are closest to your oem diameter. If you are rolled, the 245 is a better choice. That is, unless you are going for a stretched look

Thanks for help. Last qestion. Why would 245/40 be closest to the stack if the stack are 45?

That number is a percentage of width and means nothing really. Hope this makes sense...

Stock is 45, which is 45% of stock width (215) = 96.75mm sidewall
245/40 is 40% of 245 = 98mm sidewall
225/45 is 45% of 225 = 101.25mm sidewall

98mm is 1.25mm taller than stock
101.25mm is 4.5mm taller than stock.

revs per mile, speedo accuracy, odometer and everything else in your car prefers the stock rolling diameter, or closer alternative.

+1 Drew thats the simplest and clearest I've seen that explained.

Wow thank you for the extensive answer. I though that the middle number is a set unit of measurement, like 40 or 45 mm. I guess I was wrong. I am ordering tires on Friday. Treaddepot and Discountiredirect will both have specials. I was looking to get the new toyos proves4 plus, gt g max as or pzero neros. Please let me know if you have any experience with any of these. Thanks again.

It's even worse than that, for measurement purposes the number 235 doesn't mean much, Its just for the interior line of the tire, you really need to check into the sidewall design, and other specs, there's so many variations in construction and design it's hard to use them as "exact" measurements...

That would explain why some 225s look more stretched than others.
