and how hard was it to relocate the battery to the trunk? where did you run the wires? thinking about doing this because a small battery kit wont due up here in canada

clutch packs are being installed soon before the engine goes back in. battery relocation wasnt hard at all. i did everything my self as far as running wires and everything but i had my tuner help me with the install of the kill switch and connecting wires in the engine bay because i wasnt positive what to do and where to place the fuses in line. wires are run inside the car along the drivers side door seals under the plastic and through the firewall in the front. also when i moved to ohio i didnt think i could trust the small battery thats why i didnt want to do it either. im stuck with the stock battery for now but im going to be getting an optima battery soon.

You can solve this problem if you order the mid pipe with both the resonator and mini muffler but this will add an extra $180.00 to the cost but well worth it.

Thats the route I want to go , to use our stock turbo but upgrade the internals to push more boost and make more power. Any one know what the increase might be with this upgrade? Can you post a link to this spc ops motor sports as I haven't seen this product on the CRBD website. I need a price.

not saying the turbo is bad or anything...it's just...it's so small X.X

even X turbo's seem kinda small when they're in your hand...can't imagine once my turbo swap is done and I'm holding something even smaller

Smaller? What are you swapping to?

Smaller? What are you swapping to?

smaller as in "this is the X turbo? doesn't seem that big??? =\"

then after the turbo swap is done and I see the stock RA one..."omfg"

though with so much work/waiting for this battery bracket, and driving so many X's with work, I'm already bored of the stock X turbo and thinking about finding the budget for something more

lmao oh you get used to it. those that have met or bought from me know I'm way different =]

the best part though is when customers are floored when they test-drive the X, and I'm sitting there the whole time thinking "zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz"

or even when I give them a ride in my car. some of them even said they felt sick after the ride.

I even commented once on a RA test-drive "excuse me if I take a nap, this car is very comfortable and I've been working all day" while the customer was grinning ear-to-ear about the power :D

RG-RA
10-31-2011, 04:49 PM
Sorry bout not updating been on vacation. So update is everything is there waiting to but put together problem is im missing main bearings. Ordered a set from cosworth they sent the right box with the wrong size bearings. Then they didn't have bearings anymore. So I ordered from ago they sent rods and no bearings then apologized and said the bearings would be overnighted. That was 4 days ago. So I called today and the lady I spoke with said she would find the account and figure out what happened to my bearings and call me back. I had to go to work and couldn't call back and she didn't call me so I guess I will be calling again tomorrow. Long story short if it could go wrong it has and im so tired of it!

11-01-2011, 05:41 AM
Well I was just curious as it had been a couple months, then from reading some of the other threads and hearing how NSFL said he had changed his driving habits because if he drove his car hard with his RAD he had experienced slippage from his SST and in another thread can't remember the name off hand. FP had been contacted and said yes they also could re work the stock turbo but suggested not bothering because the pay off for power versus money would not be justified at least that's what I got out of it.

Anyway looking forward to hearing more on your build and what the car may do 1/4 mile wise with the new engine.

RG-RA
11-01-2011, 09:17 AM
yea i read those too. and all i hope is with the upgraded trans and the tuner i have we can get it worked out.

Foundation first or you may blow it up again.

Even Evo X pushing above 360+whp/wtq are running on luck.

I have a few friends with 2010 Evo X GSRs, One of them destroyed his transfer case at 8k miles. Second one is still good with double the mileage.
Go figure.

Sry Im not making any sense today. Im just tired.
I just look at your build list.

Darton Sleeves This is very important during installation.
Arias 86.5mm Pistons why? .5mm what about piston rings & seal, etc.
Main, Rod and Thrust Bearings oem?
Eagle H beam rods What spec?
ARP Main and Head studs Good idea
AMS Cam Cap
Kelford 214B Cams why? (just trying to understand where you're going?)
Beehive Springs and Retainers What series?
New gaskets OEM?
CBRD RAD Turbo why? (just trying to understand where you're going?)
Walboro 255 Fuel pump why?
850cc Injectors why? (just trying to understand where you're going?)
A lot of machine work! What was machined? .5mm?

Thats one hell-of-a-list.

Basically, you will be up on compression. .5mm bore & faster with aggressive 214B Cams.
More flow from RAD Turbo.
You may want to do the math & your fuel delivery to match. Im bad at new math.

Break in the new block with the RAD, Then go FP Black. Jk

RG-RA
11-01-2011, 07:33 PM
ok to answer some questions
sleeved motor and pistons is because of the damage from shrapnel when the engine popped. and rad is not where the engine will be forever just a stepping stone. plan on bigger eventually but for now its my DD and i didnt want to have to build the engine twice and i want it ready for a bigger turbo and more power. the same goes for the cams they will work with the rad and still will work with the next turbo i have no plans of massive HP but i just always want more and i need to step into it lol

Arias 86.5mm Pistons why? .5mm what about piston rings & seal, etc.

everything is being replaced and .5mm is because they are what was stocked and easy to get ahold of.

Main, Rod and Thrust Bearings oem?

i believe they are all acl i know the bearings are

Eagle H beam rods What spec?

dont know

ARP Main and Head studs Good idea
AMS Cam Cap
Kelford 214B Cams why? (just trying to understand where you're going?)

this way they are upgraded now and i dont worry about it later when switching turbos

Beehive Springs and Retainers What series?

series is unknown but as far as i know its whatever kelford suggested lol

New gaskets OEM?

dont know this either but i dont believe so

CBRD RAD Turbo why? (just trying to understand where you're going?)

answered in above post

Walboro 255 Fuel pump why?
850cc Injectors why? (just trying to understand where you're going?)

these are for just in case i can talk the wife into e85 :fingerscrossed:

A lot of machine work! What was machined? .5mm?

i dont know what was machined but for as long as its been in the damned retarded machine shop it better be more than just boring .5mm haha but i could ask my mechanic to ask the machine shop...

im bad at all math too! and im new to cars and these things so im learning as i go. but basically i found the most reputable tuner that everyone around here trusts and i have worked with before and i said what should i do and what should i buy. and this is where i stand now some things were added because i asked.

Are those tool marks or is it just lighting & camera?

I wish I could... the 2011's came with a black polymer valve cover :(

If it came with the aluminum valve cover, I'd have it refinished and painted to match the car.

Uhhhh......Paint sticks to the composite valve cover too........lol.
I mean, you couldn't POLISH yours like the aluminum, but if you are painting it, what's stopping you?

sooo...engine runs good...but trans isnt liking the 600 clutch packs right nowaparently after having followed all install instructions and then some instructions which werent provided there is still a dragging feel to the transmission. so switching to the 500's and transmission has to be taken apart again so even longer now before i get my car back. i hate my life right now!

what kind of dragging feel exactly - any codes? it will feel a little more raw when properly installed - the 600's aren't DD friendly clutches :o

well from what the tuner said it just feels really rough like its catching doesnt want to 1-2 shift, and when you let out the gas it stalls. also he said there was a code that comes on when it stalls but it goes away as soon as you restart the car i guess. didnt realise the 600's werent DD friendly otherwise i would of never got them since this is my everyday car! hopefully since they have been in the car only like 15 or so miles the guys at SSP will be cool and let me switch them out for the 500's cause the are only 100$ less anyway. but we will see im in the middle of talking to them right now so fingers crossed!!

the 600's are meant for full-on race cars. they sacrifice thickness for the extra clamp compared to the 500's. kozmic27, my good friend and tuner of all of SSP's cars ran the 500's in his - when we rebuilt it I got to see:

1. the 500's were hardly worn out at all. this was on a full t3 hta 3582 turbo kit since 2008 - driven extremely hard. nothing wrong with them at all. if he wasn't purposely testing the 600 pack, he would have just re-used his 500's
2. the install of the clutches in the SST is NOT easy. You literally have to measure clearance to the tenth if not thousandth's of a millimeter (as in 0.X or 0.0X of a mm).
3. After inspecting the clutches, I don't see how some people have some natural hate for SSP products not working. They're just f-ing clutches, it's just a friction disk. There's not much to get wrong, and all their cars are doing fine with them. Combine that with #2 (extremely picky install), I'm more inclined to think that it's an install problem.

[email protected] (kozmic27) is an honest and unbiased guy. He told me and every customer that asked to go for the 500's over 600's purely because he hasn't tested them himself. I'm sure they'll help figure out the problem. :)

yea im sure it probably was an install issue but once we switch them out to the 500's jeremy gave me erics number so i think im gonna take my car there to get it tuned if time and the wife permits. i just hope this gets done quick.

i dont understand why anyone would hate SSP products i have a few and have never had issues until this which i can understand why its happening. and i will for sure be going back for more later simply based on customer service!

i just wish i had talked to eric first could of saved me a ton of time and now money cause i gotta fork another thousand to have the 600's uninstalled and 500's installed:(

For anyone reading or keeping up with my thread i just want to say for the love of god please please go to SSP if you plan on doing anything with your transmission!

The amount of help i have gotten from Erick(spelling is probably wrong sorry) and David is unbelievable. They are easy to talk to, try to walk you through whats going on if your curious, defenitly know their stuff and it was a very family friendly place.

NOW THE AMAZING PART ERICK* STAYED UP FOR PROBABLY 30+ HOURS TRYING TO GET MY CAR TUNED AND RUNNING CORRECTLY!!!!

Now the bad, my guy in tucson royaly screwed me. clutch packs were installed wrong so it burnt the crap out of them, and couldnt be replaced under warranty. Then when taking the trans apart he scratched the hub so much that it couldnt even rotate so the transmission wouldnt shift into neutral or go into reverse. Installed the wrong valve springs from what i told him, and messed up some wiring that was causing the car to not start. oh and didnt reconnect my a/c.

Luckily all the parts with the exception of the valve springs were in stock and could be fixed right there but it took way to long to fix every problem from what time we had alloted. So we had to leave the car in texas, but when it is done it will be shipped back to me.

So again all i can say is if people dont know what they are doing dont let them try to figure it out on your car or convince you they can do it. its uch cheaper to just go to SSP and get it done right the first time guaranteed!

Thanks guys!

and that's why I'll never understand those that hate on SSP products (specifically clutches). there are so many half-assed shops that just don't have the precision/delicacy to work on an SST - it's easy to run a tuning shop; hard to run a good one. Eric has installed SSP clutches in his own garage back in the early days (before he had any affiliation with SSP), and they're still completely fine now with hardly any wear

and eric koester has never gotten sleep since starting the shop haha :p

well im not one to leave a thread unended so here it is....

the car came back it was running but not very well. it still had transmission issues no fault of SSP's but instead becasue my transmission had to be different than any other out there that SSP had seen. it continued to give them problem and couldn't make any more than 310hp 295tq on their mustang dyno.

the engine was good and had power to spare but my issues were all inside the trans. it would drive and once it was in 2nd would go like a bat out of hell. but first would pull like grandma driving to church (this is in no way a joke or understatement) even with the pedal nailed to the floor.

so to cut my losses and not spend anymore time or money into this car i found a dealer willing to pay it off for me and sell me a car i have been wanting for a very long time.

keep in mind that i will always love and respect awd cars and will buy a standard EVO in the future but as for this transmission never again!!!

so to end the thread here is my upgrade to my money pit....fun,fast and warranty

As I said over on EvoM, sucks to see you get rid of the RA because of constant SST issues caused by that first shop. That Challenger is nice though.

NooOOOooooOOOOOO *breath* nOOOOOooooooOOOOO

From my understanding the first gear is limited because of traction.
I know [email protected] went thru the same issue.
Idk what he did to fix it. I guess it too late since you already got a new challenger.

From programming view point it makes sense.
To limit the wheel spin on first gear, this may have to do with mechatronic 3d programming. I dont know what Iam talking about but I think thats how it works.

My issue wasn't power in 1st, it goes like a bat out of hell in 1st. It just won't shift to 2nd under full power.

Also known as the first to second gear shift lag/hesitation?

Or is this something different?

i would like to say yes because it seemed like the power was there, but with a transmission as messed up as mine i never really got to fully test it, for fear of the transmission breaking all the way down.

Ok, thanks an Im sorry about ur tranny, but between me and you the SRT was the way to go I came from pushrod v8 turf and there's No replacement for displacement.

And Lastly all they do is rebalance the turbo, all a stronger waist gate, and larger compressor wheel right? Or do they do anything extra?
Thanks

Nice challenger. I love the way those cars look, way more than the mustang or camaro.

The Cbrd rad lite is an upgraded compressor wheel and wastegate actuator (rendering a boost pill obsolete.)

thank you and how does this upgrade make the boost pill obsolete? And does that mean I will have to go with the stock pill or no pill at all? Please explain.
