View Full Version : Reading DTC's (CELs) without a reader/laptop

Was reading through the service manual again today and found this cool little tidbit.

The car can output DTC's with cruise light flashing "morse code". No scan tool/laptop required. Of course, a CEL reader would be easier, but if you are in a pinch, looks like this could be handy:

Wow, thanks Bryan! Reminds me of the days of tinkering with my old '99 Civic, there was a method similar to this that you could use to bring up DTC's.

That's cool, and good to know, but C'mon Mitsubishi, my wife's 2005 PT Cruiser GT Convertible actually gives you the code if you turn the key to ACC three times. It shows it on the readout in the dash. Wish ours did that.
