I had the RA in for the 15k service this weekend, and now I notice when the turbo kicks in there is a noticeable whoosh sound that wasn't there before. It almost sounds like when I turn on the a/c and it first kicks in. It's almost like it's leaking air when under boost, but there's no real noticeable loss in power. It sounds concentrated in the front left, away from the turbo itself, but near the BOV. I haven't checked hoses etc. yet because I just noticed it on the way to work.

Has anybody had this? What should I check? I can't get to my mechanic until the weekend.

Did they replace your air intake filter? If so, they may have messed up putting the air panel box back together and its loose...

Pic of your engine bay would help.

Well I took time off work this morning to head to the dealership. Turns out they re-assembled my airbox wrong, so under acceleration the bottom of the box was opening up, which caused the noise. They didn't charge me, which was solid, but it cost me half the morning for nothing. The good news is I discovered that keeping my rpm's below where the turbo spools gives me awesome gas mileage!

Yup, if you shift below 2200-2500 RPM's you'll get better fuel economy, but you also have to accelerate lightly as well. Don't mash the accelerator and manually shift below 2500 RPM's, just take it lightly, no more than about 25% throttle. I've been seeing 24-26 MPG real average while staying out of boost.

Bummer on losing out on mornings pay - that pisses me off more than anything. Looks like I called it on the airbox! :D

Thanks for the help guys. You were right TheBlackBeast it was the airbox! You would think something simple like re-assembling the vehicle correctly would be taken care of. Oh well, its times like these where being salary actually pays off!
