Iīve been building my project whole summer. It`s DD,but i love tracking and building car for it. Was quite quick summer....Went many tracks, but almost everyone found one or two things to upgrade.Ordered parts, waited weeks, back to track, and again something needed more. Now car starting to run fine and hold up my track abuse. But there is of course A LOT things to make better and but more parts in. I will build car more on winter.Just rented new garage for it :)

Welcome to the club.
That is one hell-of-a-list you got there.
I remember watching that video somewhere awhile ago.
Where are you located?

I definite like the drawn in dyno graph. :D
If only we can draw it in & make the car perform as such. :)

I use small clearance with camera and grill. So i can adjust angle better.Remember there is small vibration on bumper,so suport camera somehow for best quality.Example i use small paper towel between grill and camera....

Finland.

Yup :) Itīs 20 years old dyno. It doesnt give info electrical to computer like these day dynos. So max whp to papers is 199,99kw. Then itīs start draw straight line. But there is analog gauges which shows above that. So torque and whp & hp is 100% right. But drawed curves isnt 100% right. But gives quite good info how those should be. There are calculations how you can conclude those....
This is dyno where i went first thing when i got car.So when it was fully stock. This is why i use it still. So i can compare power and torque increase.
When car will be fully ready with engine (there are coming a lot more stuff on winter.New turbo,cams....blaah blaah),i go take power and torque numbers again, and went for other dyno to draw real 100% right curves.

And thanks!

Welcome!

Advan's eh? Tires look sick on the car, but I don't hear a lot of raves about them here. I know you guys have different options for rubber in Finland.

The car looked very predictable. Sounds like more from setup than anything. solid work, mate!!

Thanks a lot.Keep following project...There will be some very nice things happening with car on winter ;) Also next summer im ready to take part on Time Attack Club-series.

Great tires! Most common these days on Europe.I can rave them to all :) Good grip on track, but also working like champ on road. These are semislicks which are also street legal. No such bad rain driving behavior like example Toyo R888.Had been almost 10 trackdays and driving whole summer on road. And there is still tread left. Okay one tire is end of its life because it was cutted really bad by my rear fender when i first lowered car.
I will order new pair or all 4 tires for next summer.Because there will be more grip then with new front & rear lsdīs.
If you dont find these on US,you can discover them from example UK,and buy from there.I also ordered from UK.

Couple pics from them:

Today was time to move on with car. Have to see what i do now, and what later.
Dont have money and time to all. Main thing is do engine internals, better cooling, new turbo setup and things like that now.
Manage to pull all off from engine bay in six hours. Next time it will be much quicker.

Was great day. Had a time to open engine and get everything on table.
Only pistons, rods and crankshaft is still in block, because i havent one needed tool to have rod bolts open. This week i also have to go buy motor rack (is this right word? :) )

I also put transmission, wheels and things like that back to car, so now i can move it in and out garage. (all what is in picture3)

I had the Yoko Advan Advan AD08 on my previous car, and they are an excellent tire (a bit on the pricey side though). The grip is almost on par with R-compound, but warm up much faster, so they are safer to use on the street. Treadwear is 180 if I recall correctly.

Ordered first things to engine. Other plans are still open.

-AMS Ac delete kit
-AMS Torque honing plate
-DARTON sleeves
-MANLEY I-beam turbo tuff rods
-CP PISTONS on std size with skirt coatings and upgraded pins
-ARP head and main studs
-ACL rod,main and thrust bearings
-COMETIC head gasket

When i get these first parts, i will start updating carefully with detailed information and pictures. I hope that all plans is sorted out then.

There is A LOT oem parts on sale from my car. Also SST, ECU and things like that.
JUST ASK! Remember im from Finland. So heavy and big stuff will have "big" shipping costs.

What is your whp goal? How is the SST holding up? Razorlab(bryan) tune the TCU?

Very nice car/mods/write up! :)

Power goals is also still open, but first i will take about 500whp. Depends what turbo i use first. I will try different setups and build all to support big gains ;) Main thing is that i get good tool for track use, so have to check. More information later...

SST will not hold, if i dont get MRīs TCU + aftermarket clutches... I will use different gearbox when car is ready. Maybe engine break in with SST.
I will ask Razorlab make me tune as long as i have SST and OEM ECU. I wouldnt thrust anyone else.
With different gearbox, i have to use standalone aftermarket ECU, and tunes with it will make one guy here in Finland.
But letīs just hope that clutch line pressure and other things are sorted out when engine is ready, so no need for manual transmission.

First parts here this coming week. Then i will start project and updating this thread.

Now i need to decide couple things:
-Do i make stroker with Manley crank or keep 2.0.
-Turbo setup. Stock frame (example MAP Ef3) or go to T3/T4 kit.
Exhaust manifold is cracked, so i have to get new one anyway.

Hard hard...

If i only know what gonna happend with SST tuning world in future, it will clear my decisions a lot....

Still little bit free time problems... Also garage moving is on, and will be ready begin of next month. So i think car is sitting stand still also this month.
But small teaser for now:

http://livefast.fi/Mitsu/eparts1.JPG

Oh, almost forgot There was some progress yesterday.
We trailered car to new garageīs yard. When we was taking it off from trailer, load strap snapped, and car slide fast forward to some cars on parking lot. Tried to stop it, but there was nothing to do. Too much speed and weight. BANG.
Result: Mitsu rear bumper cracked. I will need new one. & Volkswagen Transporterīs front bumper cracked. Will need new one too. Main thing is that i have legs still... Was REALLY close...

Livefast
07-19-2012, 08:28 AM
There was too deep grooves on crankshaft. On cyl.1 rod contact surface.
Didnt see those, because there was one bearing lying on it. Stupid mistake... :)

Now i have to decide, do i put OEM or Manley stroker crank in it. Maybe Manley then....

Sad that again will be delay with project....

Finally will get motor parts back from machine shop next week, and project can continue. Had many set backs
Bad crank, machiner on vocation and so on.

Project pictures, details and progress will start dropping next week. So stay online, and watching

Here is one teaser what is coming.

-330mm round and 53mm is offset.
-Black suede leather and red stitching

Would love to use 350/80 size, but then paddle shifter would be way off from hands.

Yesterday i disassembled interior.

Roof, a-pilar, b- and c-pilar cushions will be coming black. So whole interior will be black, with some oem chrome and silver details. All possible stitchings will be red.
What material for roof and pilar cushions, i dont know yet. I think OEM style cushion. Just black and red stitchings.

Shift knob and handbrake will be getting new real black leather with red stitching.

Black alcantara for others what i want re cushion. But not for all. I dont like when whole interior is made. Just to get it whole black, and some red stitchings.

Got call from machining shop today.
I need new exhaust valves and seals. So my plans to keep head OEM just changed :) Good thing is that this will not delay engine build or machine works.
I will keep STD size valves.

Now i need to decide what brands i want to use.
Supertech and KelfordCams would be great, because i have "good" access to those ;)

All help and opinions are more than welcome to head combo!!

Livefast

Head stuff decided:

-Kelford Bīs
-Kelford beehive valve springs
-Supertech exhaust and intake valves.
-New seals (any aftermarket available?! Checked all....)

Today i cleaned block from all possible depris, what was left from machining.
Took about hour to get it perfect.
Then i installed oil squirters, Acl bearings, oem polished crank and Arp main bolts. Also checked bearing clearences. All perfect....

Then i had to quit, because i didnt have right bolts to put motor to motor-stand. And also had to do one customer job.
Will continue my engine end of week.

http://livefast.fi/Mitsu/IMG_0475.JPG

And put motor to good night sleep

http://livefast.fi/Mitsu/IMG_0479.JPG

We sent some parts to Thermal Coating. So i included my TurboXS downpipe to same shippment. Got it back last week.

Some progress today. Or not...

Roof cushion was ready. Same material than Audi S-line and Bmw M-sport uses. Just need to give it little more heat, so itīs perfect.
Also test fitted it, so i can know will it look good.

http://livefast.fi/Mitsu/IMG_0499.JPG

http://livefast.fi/Mitsu/IMG_0504.JPG

http://livefast.fi/Mitsu/IMG_0505.JPG

I continued to build engine. Measured all ring caps and things like that.

http://livefast.fi/Mitsu/IMG_0502.JPG

Then i started assembly pistons and rods. Oh my god those CP Pistons circlips are PITA. Those are a lot thicker, than other brands.
Finally after some hour-two, i realized good method to put those in.
But after i put rod and pin in, other sideīs circlips was almost impossible
Tried many hours with different methods, and all what i got was painful thumbs and one lost clip. Then i called it a day. Or should i say morning.
Itīs morning here in Finland, so whole night was in garage today....
I will go to sleep now, and think tomorrow, will i order new different clips, or try more with what i have now.....

Little bit progress....

Steering wheel, shifter and handbrake got highest quality black leather, what is available. Red stitchings was made "double"-style, so those give more grip. Noooo. Just looks and feels better.

http://livefast.fi/Mitsu/IMG_0627.JPG

http://livefast.fi/Mitsu/IMG_0628.JPG

http://livefast.fi/Mitsu/IMG_0630.JPG

Painted plastic interior pieces with Black PlastiDip.
First time to try that stuff. It is good, but not for interior parts. After couple months of driving, those will look horrible. Too soft for nails and rubbing.

Livefast

...and for THE engine

Cp Pistonsīs wire locks was painful. Throwed them to trashcan.
And ordered KrammLoxīs SureLoxīs. GREAT product! Easy and quik to handle. So, pistons "damages" are NOT from SureLox assembly. All made with Cp Pistonsīs locks. Now i know, why Cp Pistons had started distributing KrammLoxīs products too....

http://livefast.fi/Mitsu/IMG_0650.JPG

Measured all possible clearances again, and assembled pistons and rods to block.
Now i need to continue customers cars, and start collecting more money :) Need a lot more parts.
Just to let all know, deathline for car is April. So letīs see how wallet will handle that. Car will running then, no matter of what. Just have to skip some parts and modifications, and do those next winter.

Working a lot. And selling aftermarket parts to customers.
Also not buying clothes, food etc.

Not getting enough anymore :) Reason for slow progress now.
But im getting close to get car on road. Dropping off a lot of parts from "to-do list". I can make those later. Example cams, new turbo, clutch packs and things like that will be my next winter things to do.

First TimeAttack is begin of May. So need to get car running April, so it leaves enough time to repair all possible leaks, run motor in, do all tuning, and make all needed modifications.

Stay tuned :D Next week car will go forward, when i get gaskets to engine.
