Question...

I've been meaning to ask this for a while now. This is my first turbo'ed car so I've never witnessed this before. After installing the Borla and letting it break in a bit, I started getting some strange smells coming from my exhaust. If I really get on it, I can smell kind of a burning smell coming from the exhaust, and people behind me can smell it as well. I'm wondering if it's because of the lack of a big muffler like the stock exhaust has that keeps those fumes from being released, if indeed that's the case.

Any insight on this?

I've had my Borla installed since June or July... still smells.

And I know it's the exhaust, I've opened up the engine bay and I get no such smell, quite pleasant under the hood actually.

Have you gotten the vehicle tuned since the install of the exhaust? My guess would be that the vehicle's computers sense the loss of exhaust restriction and are giving the system more fuel to compensate. Thus making your vehicle run rich and give off that burnt fuel smell; since the extra fuel is leaking onto the exhaust.

I'm running the GST basemap with a K&N drop in and the Borla, that's it for performance.

To quote one of my favorite lines: "That would be the glorious scent of unspent hydrocarbons being emitted from your tailpipe"...

It could also be that the smell of the insulation inside your Borla muffler. Some glasspack-style mufflers will do that.
