I recently put new set of tires 225/40/18 on my SB, and as soon the car got in to 65-70 mph range, the steering wheel started to vibrate bad...i went back to the tire place to have them rebalance the wheels(cause i thought that was the problem) they mounted the wheels on to the machine and it was showing as if they were balance. after talking to someone at work who ownes and evo,he suggested to doubble check each tire PSI and make sure that were within specs of the manufacturer cause he had the same problem.
35 PSI on each tire and the problem was solved!!!!!
:D

What were they at before...?

@45, im assuming they went by what the tire said and not by the sticker on car door....

45 psi? That's MAX pressure, so you over-inflated the tire severely. Depending on how many miles you put on them with that pressure, probably a good idea to get the tires checked to make sure the tread isn't prematurely worn down the center.

I agree. I generally set my street tires to a cold pressure of 35psi front, 36psi rear. That goes up to 40psi hot on all 4 corners.

I keep mine at 36 front, 35.5 rear.

I must be heating up my fronts more ;)

Well considering the fronts are the ones that turn, that sounds about right! :)

Yup.

Coming from a car with larger rear tires and RWD, the rears would heat up at the same rate as the front. Tire pressure was even on all 4 corners.

I run Nitrogen in my tires. I set it & forget it.
But I do monitor my tires before & after I get in & out my RA.
I put happy medium between the tire spec & recommended spec.
When I was running air it has too much psi fluctuation.
Hot expand, Cold would give me TPMS warning.

Downside of Nitrogen is you cant get it at gas station air pump or AutoX when you want to up the psi.

I check mine every week, if not every couple of weeks. I'm very OCD about tire pressure, but it's reasonable since I want to make sure I'm getting the best fuel economy I can and extending the life of my tires. I keep a small 12v-powered air compressor in my trunk and a nice digital tire pressure gauge in the glove box.

Track the car and you will see that tire pressure OCD come in very handy :)

luckily for me, it was a matter of 2 days, so no damage was done to the tires. from this point on, i will be checking the tires pressure more often. hope this help some of the guys out there with steering wheel vibration...
