Just stumbled upon the forum in my research to find a new car. The RA fits the bill in all regards for my AWD/Power/Sport -vs- Comfort search.
My continued search that I am about to begin will include reliability due to my purchase from a reputable dealership will be approx a 200 mile drive. I really don't want to screw with issues once I get the car home.
I've read the factory paint job is not the best? Early chipping is a problem?
Then on to tapping into easy HP without breaking the bank or voiding warranty. I am only looking for the easy no-brainer choke points that do not degrade life expectany (if any).
This car will be a grocery getter/commuter. It will fill in for me when weather does not permit me drive the G35 due to being a POS in the slippery stuff.
I have an offer in on a semi-loaded 2011 with Nav and without touring (I really want the touring package). So I may continue to shop. My offer is for 15% off MSRP knowing 2012 are out.
Again, my reading is only begun so feel free to add your .02, while I search out my answers.

Welcome Scotty!
If you're simply looking for a car to get from A to B but having all wheel drive and fun, you might want to hold off for another month or two for the new Lancer SE, which is a nonturbo AWD that's better on gas. Premium is an expensive price to pay for just a grocery getter, especially when you have a G35 already.
If you're not concerned about any of that, then the Ralliart is a good car. As far as the cheap paint, Mitsu is known for it, but most manufacturers are going with a water-based "greener" paint, thus resulting in very thin paint layers that damage easily. I miss the paint I had on my 97 F-150...
Tapping into the engine for more power is easily done in this car with a little patience and money, much easier than the Subaru rivals. Any modifications done on any vehicle can void certain aspects of the warranty, but only if it's proven that the problem in question was caused by the aftermarket part.

My cost for premium 100% Gas is still below the majority of the countries cost for 85 octane w/corn filler, so I don't complain too much. It's also worth the grin factor of having the performance. I ride on 2 wheels more than 1/2 the time anyway, at 40MPG on the bike, 20MPG in the car equates to 30MPG year round ;)
I only want to look into "free to cheap" HP's. Not plans on anything in depth. Air in/Air out and electronic mapping type tuning that Mitsu might have been overly conservative with.
Since making an offer, the dealer who as been up my a$$ for a few weeks has gone silent. I think he realized I am not a payday target and went to hunt for better suckers. Thats OK.. Prices will be better this time next month anyway ;)
Where at in Northern VA? Thanks for the reply.

Yes, I know the area. My wife is from Harrisonburg (near James Madison).
I am looking to move back the the area avoiding the beltway if at all possible.

Very cool, I've visited JMU a few times to visit friends in college. Beautiful area down that way, compared to the congested NoVA area.
Welcome to the club Scotty!

Well.. Finding "My" 2011 Ralliart has become a challenge. Herring Mitsu in Dallas area had a White loaded till I said I would take it.. Then it was sold. Now they want me to settle for another that has Nav but no Touring package. It's nice, but no what I have my heart set on.
Mitsubishi's lame website does not allow you to search national inventory (already called customer support). That that brings me back to you fine forum members.
I am in search of a 2011 Sportback (I like the white and the blue), other colors considered. With at least the Touring package, I can and will take or leave the Nav package and/or others.
If you have lead please post up, PM, or email me at the same name here @yahoo
I got a laugh out of the Matt Damon video. I remembered the scene, but couldn't remember the movie it came from. Must not have been that good ;)
Thanks for the assist and welcome. :D
^ The movie is called 'Euro Trip', yes it is a dumb movie but a funny one.

You might try calling Southcoast Mitsubishi & see if you can get a hold of Sam (Smash) they have the best price in the west coast.
After I bought my RA I found out about SouthCoast & I paid about 4-5k too much. Even if I had it delivered to my house it would be cheaper.
Good luck.

Sam doesn't work at south coast anymore. He's at Huntington Beach Mitsubishi now...
