I would think if AMS does that, they would give you instructions on how to do so. RRE wont do a reflash without it attached to the chassis as they have found each ralliart is slightly different.

It really should be tuned to your car specifically. Where do you live? Maybe there is a good Mitsubishi tuner nearby.

Talk to them about getting a reflash sent to you through email. At that point, all you will need is a laptop, a tactrix cable, and the open ecu program. AMS should be able to walk you through the process of getting and using them.

Of course, if you have a local tuner, that would be ideal. You will not see the same gains with an off the shelf as you would with a custom tune. Also, a good tuner should be able to talk to you about your plans for the car and advise you on the best upgrade path.

heres another newb question or 2.

so if one was to get the tactrix cable and has a laptop. i could have the "tuned" software sent to me via email. i can then backup my current eom tune to the laptop. and load the new performance tune?

one other thing. if that all holds true. can u then go back and flash back the oem tune for when the car needs to go to the dealer?

Your assumptions are correct. From what I've heard, the dealers can see if the ECU has been flashed and some dealers are anal about that stuff.

Yes the ECU map can be e-mailed. Lots of EVO guys have the newer Tactrix cable and should be able to load it for you. A nice friendly EVO specialist shop would also loan you a cable and show you how it works too.

Dont forget the _FREE_ basic tuned map from GST that is available. That is a cool deal from them.

BAck to removing the ECU to send it off somewhere, it is super easy. The ECU is only bolted on with a couple 10mm socket bolts. It is under the hood on the driver's side.

Jury is out still on MMSA being able to detect the flash. Before they couldnt from what I know of the system. But with a little escalation in the arms race between "Us" and "Them" they would be able to detect it. Bottom line, dont count on it.

If I was president MMSA I would be paying someone overtime to find a way to not pay warranties on motors that customers blowed up from bad tunes and abuse. They are runnign around the headquarters turning off lights in unused meeting rooms trying to save 50 cents. If they can save a couple thousand dollars not paying for a burned piston that was no fault of their own, that will help them more.

Then again if I was president of MMSA there would be a 5 speed option in the RalliArt with a $24k sticker price!

Mike thx for the response. unfortunatly the only evo shop would be the mitsu dealer here where i live. I was back there today as after i took delivery of my 09 RA yesterday i quickly noticed they either lost or forgot to give me the lock for the wheel locks that they installed.

while there i got to talking with the service manager about aftermarket parts and what they could get etc. ended up he brought up the gains people are getting off a ecu tune so i asked about warranty. and all he had to say was. he'd have to link the ecu flash to the failed part. as well as a couple of the techs there have had their ecu's flashed already by shipping them to the US. i believe AMS i'm not 100% i can't remember.

anyways, i just wanted to make sure my understanding of the process was correct. i'd rather buy the tactrix cable and make friends with one of the evo owners/mitsu techs here.

can the ecu software be d/l'd for free and loaded without being hooked up to a obdII port? just so i can get a feel for what it looks like.

all the help is much appreciated guys.
