What is the max boost that that the stock bov can handle before it leaks ?

I think stock boost peaks at around 13, but I really wouldnt want to do much more than that with a plastic BOV IMO. It can handle more I know, Im just a stickler when it comes to having plastic parts on my car.

Get an OEM Evo metal BPV and be set. It'll hold more boost, more reliable. Plenty for the TD04 turbo in this car.

Evo owners usually sell them cheap. Try the FS threads on the different Evo forums, or you can buy one brand new. Check Lancershop.com.

if you buy the evo one, you'll also need a longer vacuum line

this is where I got mine.. definitely pricey but it comes with the hose so it was a quick and easy switch from the plastic one

Yes, the OEM line will fit, but it will pinch a bit since it's short, which could cause issues. Best to get a longer line anyway to prevent issues.

Yes the Evo X metal bov has the vacuum nipple located on the opposite side, so a longer piece of vacuum line is normally needed. I purchased my Evo MR bov direct from lancershop with no issues and great service.

+1, that's where I got mine.

However if you're a tightwad and want to save a lot of money, buy a used one from an Evo owner and run up to Autozone to get the vacuum line. Make sure you take the old one in with you so you can get the proper diameter.

I found this one on eBay, but it looks like it's seen better days. Should still get the job done if you want to pick it up.

I'd also check the other forums to see if any members are selling theirs ;)

wow that's stupid cheap.. I got mine for $95 off a Evo X GSR. Mine points towards the radiator fans vs others with the JDM EVO X MR ones. No needs for a longer line for me. :)

Is there any difference in performance when upgrading to Evo Bov? As far as how the car feels/runs

You should feel more from simple axle back upgrades over the BOV. I got a used GSR BOV myself, but for around 60 shipped. Stock vac hose.

No, the only difference you'll notice is that it holds more boost pressure, but you have to be tuned for that to count anyway. Won't give you any power or give you that whoosh sound either.

when you upgrade to the metal BOV. me and my wife both noticed that the boost curve smoothed out, and the car seems to shift smoother. Also it took out the bucking at driving at low speeds ex. 5-10 mph.

Nice! I hate that "bucking" *hit! Answer I was lookin for, thanks

The bucking drives me nuts! If a non-stock bov solves that issue, I am inclined to get one.

That said, this is my first car that is not normally aspirated, so I'm probably more sensitive to power delivery smoothness than most on here.

i switched to an evo one, got one off evox for 60$.

in the quarter mile... it's made more or less zero difference. however the car does feel smoother, and move more evenly. it also sounds better. not much louder, but better. i'd recommend you get one :)

I installed the Evo MR bov from Lancershop (http://www.lancershop.com/customer/product.php?productid=191&cat=172&page=1) this morning, and went for a spirited drive.

The improvement is smoothness is very apparent. For that alone, for me it was money well spent :)

I posted somewhere else, but then saw this thread and thought it's more appropriate.

After reading other similair threads, I grabbed a used Evo MR BoV (156km, $80) to swap out, but wondered if there's anything to be done besides possible putting on a longer vacum tune.

Do you need tune anything or can you just drop it in and go?

This is my first forced induction/turbo'd car.

I posted a response to your same question in another thread. Short answer, no.

Here is a link to the old thread on how to install the bov:

http://www.clubralliart.com/showthread.php?t=364

I was able to use my original vac line and not kink it by rotating the Evo MR bov a little bit.
