Picked up am Evo X MR 3 week old intercooler last night for $175 with the pipes.

Getting ready to do a ton of changes next week when I have some time off, but I was wondering if there's a good intercooler swap tutorial or video out there.

Any helps appreciated.

FMIC upgrade. DIY/How-To

Ok, LICP (lower intercooler pipe) is going to PITA but it can still be done.
Remove the battery, battery tray & whatever it is in the way of Throttle Body & LICP hose.
Remove the driver side wheel, SST Cooler air funnel & under tray/splash guards.

One of the trick is to first line up LICP & LICP hose that leads to throttle body (oh No! not that again :))
Wiggle & play Tetrix til you can fit it in thru tight space & clearance.
Make sure all the bolt & LICP holes are in approximate area.
Evo X LICP introduce an additional bracket that hold on to the frame compared to RA stock LICP.
That one is PITA to line up & bolt on.
Make sure everything is seated & torque all clamps & wiggle, push the LICP around & bolts to spec.

Also, you may need ?__? diameter 6" tube/pipe w/ beaded lips if you dont have the hose from LICP to BOV.

I may have to write something up for the whole thing with pics.

Here is a good link with pics & details. You can use the torque spec from the diagram in my previous post.

Taking the bumper off to remove the intercooler is like dropping your pants to your ankles just to take a piss.

Thats how I feel. Why would to remove the bumper cover? You take off 2 big pieces of plastic on the top and bottom that give you plenty of room. When I made this comment before, I was told they don't like to lie on the ground. All I can say is perhaps turning wrenches isn't for you.

It depends on what he's doing. If it's just the intercooler, you can work with the bumper on. However, if he's tackling the LICP, then it's highly recommending removing it.

I guess according to your analogy, I go jungle commando when I take a piss, pants just flies off.

There are 7 x 10mm bolts, 5 x 10mm on top & 2 x 10mm in the wheel well. Which make wrenching/installing FMIC/UICP/LICP easier.
How long does it really take to remove 7 x 10mm bolts?

If you got better alternative, post the instruction.
Dont talk about it, be about it. ;)

How would you make sure UICP is seated all the way down?
How would you tighten the clamps? You would need Japanese hands.

Why would you do it under the car when you can just remove the front bumper & do it from the front. I guess different strokes for different folks.

Im still interested to know how you guys do it without taking your pants off.
I mean the front bumper off. :D
