So when i get in my car for the first time of the day (cold engine) and is in manual mode it will automatically switch gears, usually from 2nd to 3rd. FOr example, if im going over a speed bump in 2nd and the rpm's drop almost near idle, then hit the gas come out of the speed bump thats when it'll automatically change, or if im rolling thru a stop sign. It only does it with a cold engine.

has anyone else experienced this?

Mine did that also during the cold in the first few minutes of driving. However it has not done it since i got the tranny fluid changed......

Only if I am in a hurry and don't let the car warm up. And only when its really cold. (Here in So*Cal really cold isn't really That cold :P)

at least im not the only one. not sure if it has anything to do with the tranny fluid because mine did it before and after the fluid change which was like 2000 miles ago

Does it do it after letting the car warm up? "According to the manual" (ive never read it haha) you are suppose to let the car warm up until the oil meter starts reading..which can take a couple minutes.

If your rpm isnt high enough for the speed & if you are in too high of a gear to keep the engine from bogging and bucking, auto downshift can happen in normal sst mode. It usually happens around 1k rpm in normal mode. It is normal operation.

Mine doesnt do that but maybe because i make sure my RPM's are high enough so the TSST doesnt take over shifting, Like what MTZL described above.

Does it do it when the gear selector is moved to the left position, or just when you have it pulled straight back?

This happens to my '11 often, it's rather cold in Winnipeg. I brought this up to a friend of mine that works for Mitsu Canada. He said the tranny will automatically shift even in manual shift + sport if the engine is cold, it's suppose to be a safety thing for the sst, to me it doesn't make much sense.

And all this time I thought I had a gremlin in my tranny!

Mine does the same thing. Pretty sure its more of a safety feature for the engine and turbo then the sst. Being that your supposed to let the engine warm up before you take off so that the oil can properly cool the turbo. If you have it in manual when its cold and take off and rev to high the turbo obviously would kick in and coukd seize it due to poor lubrication. So sst is probably programed to shift on its own if engine temp is below a set temp. Makes sense to me
