So far I am running an Evo X Intercooler and bov, nisei upper intercooler pipeing, injen CAI, UR high flow cat, Greddy cat back, and AMS base flash with boost pill. I went to the track this past friday and was running a consistent 12.8's. Hopefully by next spring i will finally put on the Evo x turbo thats been chilling in my room.

I'm not entirely sure on my Hp numbers :( im still running the AMS base flash. however when i do the evo turbo swap. I was going to run the dyno before and after the swap to see the gains! so i can tell you then :p

My buddy with his Evo9 dynoed at 345awhp (Intake, Bigger frontmount with piping, Full exhaust, Stage 1 clutch, Cosworth 272 cams, C-spec tuned @ 25psi) He did an 8.0 in the 8th and a 12.6 in the 1/4. Crazy, I know wih our SST we dont need as much hp to run with higher power cars. What ecu tweaking was done? You went from the base flash to the re flash right?

Ralliart26
11-29-2010, 12:32 PM
Yep stock to reflashed. Then had it tuned for my intake and cat delete, had the shift points moved up a little. Not sure what else ill have to go back thru it and let you know. That's crazpy our sst's can fly with such minimal power.

Will that HighFlow Cat still pass smog?

I did 13.4 1/4 mile with EVO X FMIC, UICP, LICP & evo ix bov & Tune from Bryan@GST. Sports mode in Manual, ASC off, no launch. Just timed the tree when it turn second yellow I gradually press the throttle. Shifted every gear @ 6k rpm. I tried 7k I over rev'd & bounced off the limiter 1st & 2nd gear @ did high 15 sec. lol.

Great runs!
So what did you do to shave .2sec?

Honestly I have no idea if a highflow cat will pass smog testing! haha Where I live we don't have any testing for that... I let the car shift itself seeing as the shift points are set to 7500 maybe more. I do a little launch going up to 3 grand up if you hold it to long your car goes into limp mode. I sent my map back to Chris@AMS and he changed a few things around for me. I'm guessing just an upgrade to the stage 2 re-flash? I gave him my parts list and he went to town. I will be doing a custom dyno tune when I do the X swap. I'll probably contact SSP see if i can use there tuner seeing as I live 30 mins away. Maybe by then they will have cracked the tcu as well!:p

This week I have a little project going on!, Friday-Sunday I changed my timing chain, which stretched from what it looked like millimeters... Next I swapped out my trans fluid for SSP pro gold, and added my DIY trans cooler ;) Finally to wrap the week up TURBO SWAP! as of right now I have only taken out my stock turbo.

Its really alot different from my last set up... I had 270hp before and now 320... still in the tuning process... but it pulls so hard! and sitting around finding used parts really shaved the $ off of the x swap price tag... It might have been as much or cheaper than the upgraded ra turbo

Nice! I would only get a carbon fiber trunk or hood if I had a darker color car. Wouldn't look right having a silver car with a dark hood and/or trunk unless it was heavily modified, and I don't want to spend the money to get it painted either. It's pure carbon fiber looks or stock for me.

Haven't been on the forum in a while, here's the last thing I did before my car meet its end :( I had the entire engine bay powder coated. What do you guys think? Shortly after my evo x turbo and oil pump seized. not sure how or why. Basically no oil ran through my motor and tore up quite a bit of stuff... The only thing left are my rods(which I wouldn't trust) valve and valve springs.

I wish, I'm only twenty can't afford that:/ maybe when I start making real money. I'm getting the stock block dirt cheap, from my uncle who works at Mitsubishi. then using the f'ed up block for later projects bore it maybe a Stroker.

wwralliart77
09-13-2011, 10:27 AM
If I recall correctly, I don't believe there are any aftermarket sources for an oil pump. I'm afraid it's OEM only, just like the timing chain.

As far as intercoolers are concerned check out UR, AMS, and ETS. These companies make some quality products. I went with UR being that it was the cheaper route, but their products are not cheap by any means. I also like how you can see the welds on the piping; makes it look more function over form.

Any other engine upgrades partial or complete IE cams, cranks, rods, pistons etc.

I am a little confused as you say you want to prolong the life of your oil pump, then why ow-40 and why not 0w 20 instead? The zero rating is meant for winter driving and especially cold starts as it is a little thinner viscosity when cold allows you to turn the engine over more easily when the block is artic cold. The 40 on the end indicates a thicker base thus some people seem to think more protection but it still has to flow through the same size oil passages because those don't change of course. The problem is pushing the thicker oil through the passages at higher RPM requires greater force and thus puts more stress on the OEM oil pump which we know can have issues. So if we put a greater load on the pump how would this help increase the pumps lifespan?

You could do us a favour and see if you could get readings as far as oil pressure with the factory oil and then again after you change oil and repeat. I wonder if the ECU tech software records these values of if any one knows of a simpler way to do this comparison.

Another question is after talking to several other racers at the local Motorsport park which has both road racing and drag racing several of them have told me they are producing slightly more power at reduced engine temps after switching to Royal Purple motor oil. I was shown some before and after graphs and there was a small difference but I guess when your racing every little bit helps. Has anybody here used Royal Purple on their R.A and if so what spec?

^ So your original head wasn't damaged?! Why not go with a pre-built head with all the components already installed such as Buschur Racing? I found that to be a cheaper option in my case since I had to replace my entire cylinder head assembly.

I remember seeing Electric pump for Oil & Water before..

this maybe one of the things to look into.
Oil pressure is good thing to keep an eye on.
Good luck with your build. Hope you get it up & running soon.

I'm excited to see how everything pulls together also, I wonder how laggy the bbx is going to feel compaired to the stock Turbo or even the x Turbo. I put a oil pressure gauge in and will be keeping a close eye on it, anyone know where the oil pressure should be at idle/cruising/and wot?

I have BC's, BR-series non inverted. They're good for daily use, car handles a lot better than stock shocks. If you're considering BC's, go with at least 8k front and 6k rear spring rates, I ended up getting 6k front and 4k rear, so these are definitely not set up for track use, too undersprung IMO.

I'm running the D2 Racing RS Series coilovers with no issues. Definitely gives the RA a much stiffer and responsive drive. I really like how you can manually adjust the spring preload along with compression and rebound to your liking. I would highly recommend these coils to anyone who's interested and the price being under 1k doesn't hurt either! Here's some of the features.

Key Features:
Full-length adjustment and height adjustment for separate setting of the height and spring preload.
36 levels of damping force adjustment (compression and rebound together).
High performance mono-tube design.
Teflon (anti-rust) coated threading.
Pillow-ball upper mounts with front camber adjustment plate included on most strut style front suspensions. Most other applications include aluminum upper mounts (without camber adjustment) for the front.
When applicable, aluminum upper mounts for the rear coilovers are included.
Constructed from 6061 aluminum, powder coated to a unique purple finish.
Spring and damper rates engineered to work optimally together.
1 Year Limited Warranty (Rebuildable and serviceable in the United States).

they are not on my car yet. i have talked to many owners of amy coil overs, including people with evo x's, ralliarts, civics, etc. and they all say the same thing, they are unbelievable. i can tell just by looking at them they are the real deal. message sly if you want some info of how they ride.

just do some research though. you'll find time after time unreal reviews on them, and more importantly the company and owner. I've only read about good experiences.

in my mind for the price, you can't beat these guys. they are more expensive than bc's but the quality is unsurpassed. you get what you pay for. custom machined and anodized parts. full customization of spring rates, shock length, if you want camber plates or not, pillow ball mounts or not, bushings. etc.

look into them if you are serious about performance and price.

Starting to log my car for SSP to get some power out of it. Thought I'd share how to hook up your AEM a/f ratio gauge to EvoScan. Fine a serial to USB cable(got mine at radio shack) any will do, solider the serial wire from your aem gauge (blue wire) to the second pin on the serial cable and solider a grounding wire to the fifth pin on the serial cable. Next in EvoScan, select Wideband (WDB), select AEM UEGO. To figure out the COM port being used, click Wideband, Open Windows Device Manager, find your adapter. Find COM ports in the list and determine which one matches with your USB adapter. Select the appropriate COM number in EvoScan. Enable WDB (External WideBand A/F Ratio) in the Items to Data Log in EvoScan now you can log your AEM gauge in EvoScan :D

You can definitely feel the difference with the motor mount, it was super easy too install. This weekend I changed my oil, changed my Trans fluid, installed a whiteline rear sway bar, installed my custom oil cooler and painted my rims very productive :) I put FFL-2 into my Trans, so far I've had OEM Ssp gold and now ffl-2 it feels exactly the same as the rest. I wish I new about it sooner it would have saved me aton of money haha. Oil cooler install went pretty smooth. The whiteline sway bar was a PITA!!! If you've ever looked under your car you'll see the rear diff is in the way... yes you have too unbolt the rear diff and rest it on the ground. I have an impact gun so it wasn't ha too ha rd its definitely doable at home. Haven't driven it yet with the sway bar but I'm sure ill be able too tell.

Nice, let me know how the Depos work out for you. I've read the fitment is so-so with a lot of people. My biggest concern is the quality of the lenses. The last set of Depos I had were on my Eclipse. They were nice, but the lenses started to oxidize and yellow after about 6 months.

The ones I got fit perfectly! If they do oxidize ill just retrofit them with the evo-r projector maybe do a quad projector set up.

I meant the outer protective lens. The projector in my old set were fine, just the outer plastic lens oxidized.

Not sure on DEPO's other stuff, but they're lancer headlights are really top-notch, nice quality and fitment, and no yellowish tint as of yet, still clear as day. :D

They do actually! They are 350 shipped on eBay, fiberglass. For the price they fit great.
