I assume the Mitsu is prob the best to use. The dealer is quite a ways from my house, so either I stock up or find another filter. Any suggestions on filters that meet or exceed the Mitsu specs? Not interested in Fram or Mobil 1.

the Mitsubishi is the worst and on par with fram
Im not sure how bad the Mitsu filter is but I would have to agree that Fram is really bad on on my last car I kept wondering why I would see dirt and fine particles on the dipstic and in behold it was the oil filter becaus I would change the oil every 3-5k on a brand new N/A car. after switching to another filter all was well.

Purolater pure one, has the highest reviews on my other turbo forums.. That and pennzoil platinum. Is supposed to be the best combo for turbos..

Not that I have done any extensive testing, but I have used the Bosch Premium filter and Lubro Moly 5W40 or 0W40 without issue.

Hehe, hardly, but thanks.
From reading on other forums, the OEM/Denso filters get good reviews for flow rate, but are poor on filtration. Much like a high-flow air filter ;)

Thanks! Was looking around and did find the Purolator to be one of the best, besides Amsoil and Royal purple, but for a fraction of the cost.
Only thing I can't find is the bypass PSI of the stock oil filters - anyone know?
My Legacy GT is 23 psi, and most filters are rated around 14 - 18 psi.
I did find some new WIX/Napa Gold filters rated at 26 psi.
Obviously a bigger filter with more flow rate should circumvent some of the need for a higher psi rated oil filter.
I do have a Puro ordered, should be here today. Going to put in Castrol Euro Car (German) 0w30.

NAPA also now offers a new " platinum " version of the Wix filters designed for longer uses w synthetic oils.
I alway run the regular " gold " series # 7092, its the older dsm fit filter and shorter but wider than the newer filter # that fits our car, ( cheaper for me too at cost...) lol!!

Can anyone post part numbers (size for our cars) for different brands?

I just read the thread to evoM linked on the first page. This appears to be the best choice for people that change often.
Royal Purple 10-2867
All the part numbers are in the thread.

I also use them, but not because I am an RP fan.
It was because at the time, I couldn't find a fully synthetic media filter outside of an auto parts store. So I paid $15 each at pep boys.
Now Purolater makes a fully synthetic filter for ~$10 so in the future I will switch.

Pure1 is a good filter. Very well made, however the classic one sucks. STAY AWAY FROM FRAM (orange) and STP.

I use mobil 1 synthetic oil filter along with Mobil 1 Extended Performance oil. First and second time I changed oil using Mitsu's OEM oil filter(unfortunately) I noticed at 3000 miles oil was black. Than after some research I switched to mobil 1 synthetic oil filter and what a difference it made. Now when I change oil at every 3000 miles oil comes out still with gold color :)

This is most true. A guy actually did a study on all the filters for our cars and WIX, AMSOIL and KN came out on top.

I do like K&N products. Might switch to K&N oil filter if they have synthetic oil filter.

I use the Bosch Premium filter, as I had positive results using it with LubroMoly synthetic oil in other cars.

Just a lil update...I'm on my second Pure1 filter...last oil change was end of June...so far the oil been pretty "clean"...what I do is clean the dip stick with paper towel and visually inspect how "clean" the oil is...so far the oil is not as dark compare to pre-Pure1 filter set-up...so I'm very impressed. ...
