Hey all- My sst feels loose and crappy, it pretty much has felt this way since I got the car used 2 years ago. I brought it to a dealer in MA and they didn't know what to do with the car (never saw a ralliart or sst, had no idea how to repair it) and told me they would "call mitsubishi to open a ticket." So, they never did, and I gave up trying to get them to do it. 2 years later now and it's clunkier and noisier.

Anybody know a trust worthy shop in NJ or the surrounding area? I suppose a dealer would be best, so does anybody know a dealership around here that has actually worked on a ralliart?

Thanks

Have you tried to change your SST fluid and filter first? You might want to start with that first...

Yes I did this at 60k. No improvement, I'm at 67 now.

I didn't. Ivey tune did it. Again, it's been doing this for a while and was unchanged by the fluid change.

I flashed to the GST map a few months ago and shifting drastically improved, but wasn't perfect. I went back to my original stock rom yesterday and the shifting is terrible. It feels like the tranny is going to fall out of the car. I might be exaggerating, but under 20mph when in the equivalent of stop and go traffic, it thunks, clunks, jerks, etc. Not good! It feels like something is loose, like the whole thing is rocking around in the car. Every shift in all gears hangs for a half a second or so before engaging.

Thanks for the help, but I think need a dealer or shop so they can actually look at the car. Iveytune is cool but I'm not sure if they are authorized to do the warranty work. I have an aftermarket warranty (lifetime powertrain), not mitsu, but I'm pretty sure it should go through a Mitsubishi shop.

But if you know what's wrong with it, And can provide a dealer, that would be great! thanks lol

Thanks all. I took it into paramus mitsubishi today. The tech noticed that it isn't shifting great, and I should be hearing back later today. I hope it's a fixable problem... Luckily the car came with the powertrain warranty.... :)

And it is a NON mitsubishi warranty. So I should be fine.

I just got a call from the car service place, they found something is messed up in the transmission as suspected. The warranty claims guy has to come out and inspect the car tonight/tomorrow. I'm nervous they're going to make up something to deny the claim... I bought it used with 40k miles on it.. who knows what that guy did to it! I'm nice to it ! lol

Thanks Crak-

I just got a call from the mitsu dealer... the warranty rep came out today and approved the fix. They're replacing the entire SST. I'm only responsible for the $100 deductible.

Today is a GOOD DAY for me! :D

Can you find out what will be the total cost (SST + labor) that the dealer will charge.

What year is your Ralliart? I'm hoping you say 2009 since those seem to have more tranny problems than the other years. It would make me feel a little less nervous about my 2011.

It's a 2010 sport back. I bought it and it was one year old... already had 40,000 miles on it. I knew the other owner drove it into the ground. I figured since it came with a lifetime powertrain it wouldn't matter. Good thing the warranty company came through!

hotkupa the mitsu guy said invoice plus labor puts it at $15,000. I am VERY glad I am not paying for THAT!
