Coilovers or springs?

What about this...

Never been a huge fan of Megan products. Also, I dislike the fact that the spring rate is higher for the rear than it is for the front.

Also, if you are asking the question of which is right for you, the answer is springs. The only people who need coilovers either a) actually know that the need them or b) are so convinced that they need them that it isn't worth trying to convince them that they don't.

Right now, RRE, Robispec and Eibach all have very good springs for our cars. Also, if you're convinced that you absolutely need coilovers, check with Robispec since I know they were working on getting a set for the RA. Also, Cusco makes coilovers for our car, but they aren't currently being sold in the United States.

Thanks partner for the quickest answer!!:D

The only thing that I love coilovers is the fact that if I want to track the car I just make some changes and if I want to use as a DD just make another adjustments...but it's too much money compared with the springs...:(

Well, if that's the case, I would still wait for other options. Again, I'm not a big fan of Megan coilovers. Also, just because they fit "Lancers" doesn't necessarily mean that they fit our cars. You might want to double check with them about fitment on the Ralliart.

Also, I'm not sure if the coilovers that Robispec was looking into had adjustable dampening.

Having a higher spring rate in the rear is actually quite advantageous for a car that has a tendency to understeer.

Megan lists these as fitment for regular Lancers. I'm not sure if they will fit on a Ralliart or not, although I can't think of why they wouldn't.

That's true, but I would much rather have a larger swaybar in the rear with a higher springrate upfront. Basically, I'd rather control the understeer/oversteer of the car using swaybars.

Apparently, Cusco also released coilovers for the RA. No one has been able to provide an exact quote for importing them from Japan, though. Sounds like they might be about $2,000.

$2000 shipped?

Yes, that is the amount some people have been estimating, but no one knows for sure. AMS said they had an account with Cusco, so they might be able to get a quote.

I did not upgrade my dampers (shocks as many refer to them) when I had Muellerized put in new springs. So I guess to answer your questions is, no you don't have to, but it might be worth considering depending on your desires. It works, but its not as nice of a ride as you could have with coilovers. It also cost more than a grand less than a decent set of coilovers.

I choose the Eibach Pro Kit and the ride is perfect, not too low and it feels very tight. Sorry for the quality of the photo, I'll take some photos this Saturday.

GOD BLESS EVERYONE!

Megan are EXCELLENT quality ENTRY level coilovers. Since the beginning of this thread, Megan has increased their quality tenfold and their newer Megan Tracks are an excelent choice. Whether or not they are available for the RA in the Track setup yet...
