Hi all,
I got my Lancer Ralliart Sportback nearly 5 weeks ago. I am a member on MLR, but thought I would join up here as there seems to be more Sportback owners than in the UK. :)
I'm particularly interested in the LR's tuning prospects.
A few pics, although I'm sure you all know what one looks like :)

And I have a bit of a "thing" against orange indicator bulbs, so swapped the fronts for the Silvatecs I'd kept from my Mazda3 MPS :) and bought another pair for the rear.

Welcome! Looks great. Your wheels appear to be a gun metal gray, is that an option over there? Looks perfect with the black.

Gun metal wheels are standard on the Ralliart. That's my website and it lists most of my previous cars :) I loved the MG but had to sell it on as parts are now hard to come by.

Interesting that you get the old red display but nav without recaros and the nice dark wheels.
Congrats

I have the GSR model which comes with nav and leather, there is a model below which doesn't have these.

Is it a older model or the latest model in the UK?
I find it interesting it doesn't have the new color display

I was thinking older because of the red display but newer because of the leather seats and nicer trim in the interior than I have seen on RalliArts here. Looks darn near MR Touring level of trim inside there!

Interesting. I guess the 2010 models there don't get the color screen.
For reference, here is my USDM 2010 Ralliart Sportback with Recaro package:

ooh that colour display is really nice, I'm not keen on the red one in mine.
I also see that you don't get the AFS button? (One along from the AWC).

The ralliart in UK will be diffrent then the one we get just like the EVO.
As far as EVO the UK get 3 ver a 300 hp, 360hp, and a 400hp it just like when the UK got the EVO 8 they sell 3 vers.
So I would not be shocked if they sold diffrent ver of the ralliart with more options then we get and more power stock not to mention that UK uses 96+ octane.
Cheers mate on the car thought I would be the only one with a sportback RA when I go back to UK in the next year.
But thinking of upping for the EVO X GSR Befor I go back cars are much cheaper here in the USA.

Active Stability Control (ASC) with Traction Control (TCL)
Integrated management of the ASC and ABS systems allows seamless control of vehicle dynamics when accelerating, decelerating or cornering. The ASC system, which includes stability control and traction control, helps to maintain optimum traction by regulating engine power and the braking force at each wheel. ASC helps the driver follow a chosen line more closely by comparing the car’s path (as determined from yaw rate sensor data) to the desired path (as determined from steering inputs) and applies individual wheel braking or throttle control to correct any divergence. ASC also enhances vehicle stability by helping to prevent wheel spin on slippery surfaces, and helping to prevent sliding as the result of sudden steering inputs. Communication between ASC and the TC-SST ensures that the transmission selects and holds the best gear during cornering.
Increasing braking force on the inside wheel during understeer and on the outer wheel during oversteer situations, ASC helps maintain stability through cornering, and also enhances stability for hazardous road conditions. ASC is programmed to allow performance driving and can be turned off by pressing and holding the ASC button for five seconds. Turning off ASC does not compromise operation of the car’s 4WD.

Lights that look around corners - The adaptive front lighting system (AFS) Means Front Lighting System uses high intensity discharge (HID) headlights increase the driver's field of vision to make night driving safer. the cleaver bit is that the car detects when the driver turns the steering wheel and automatically switches on an additional beam to light up the oncoming corner.
That is all I could find about it from Mitsubishi so it is a nice extra I guess they put it on the UK model because GB has more roads with turns then USA and that is why USA cars don't realy get things like that for handling.
USA is full of strait roads and UK road turn every 3to8 miles..
Hope it helps.

The AFS comes on when you turn the steering wheel so far, I think its just an additional reflector. I can't say as it particularly helps as the one a winding road when the corners aren't sharp enough, the wheel isn't far enough round to activate the AFS.
Jdmboi - the wheels are the standard offering on the RA, there's no option.
I'm starting to get the hang of the engine now, with its 'extra' power band around 4000rpm. It's taken some getting used to after my Mazda3 MPS (Mazdaspeed3) as it had all its power down the bottom of the rev-range.
Oh, and if anyone is interested, I'm female. It bugs me that people assume I'm a bloke ;)
Bryan, what camera did you take the pics with?

No AFS on USDM models. Do have ACD with ASC button, it's on the dash by the HID control.
The photos where taken with a panasonic GF1
btw, if you find out the ROM ID of your ECU I can make a (free) basemap for you that gives a nice extra kick of power, you can find out more about this here:

not to mention that UK uses 96+ octane.
It's 96 RON which is equivalent of US 93 octane

Got ASC,AFS and AWC but not ACD. Is that improved map detectable by the dealer and how would I install it? On the inside of the petrol cap is a sticker saying that you must you 98+ RON.

Hi
What part of UK are you from?
I am from stockton on tees.
Still sad thought I would be the only one with a RASB in UK.
But now upgrading to GSR so no worry's.
The base map has to be flashed by port or PC then have a rolling road tune done.
Cheers

I'm Northants. What's making you chop the RA in for an Evo?
hackerrei
05-13-2010, 02:56 PM
Well there are a lot of reasons but I will just give the top.
Every one want's to up there power to evo level over stock ralliart and to do it takes any were from 400 to 1000 bp and a evo x turbo swap is 1000 to 4000 bp.
Then there is the fact that with all that you still have to upgrade the brakes and pad-brake lines, Suspension, sst-tc clutch and flywheel, and tune.
So there are a lot of cost and time to put in it.
Ralliart are fast for stock like evo8 80mph to 120mph takes around 13 to 14 sec and the ralliart takes 17 to 18 sec in 5th gear and 20 to 21 sec in 6th gear pulls.
So for me it is just better to trade up to the Evo X GSR and bypass a lot of the work with the power and get out from the limited SST into a proper 5Speed.
So when I get back to UK I will be able to have more fun on the Isle of man on the weekends.lol
But I still like the Ralliart and I think this car was a great idea from mitsu and I will keep looking for better idea's and upgrade's for the ralliart even after I up to the GSR to help all my friends in the ralliart club because it is more then just a baby EVO it's ralliart pride..
P.S. what made you go with the RASB?

I didn't know the RA existed! I saw it on the forecourt at the dealer and really liked it. It's unusual and I've only seen one other RA on the road. This is always a big pull for me, like when I bought the Mazda3 MPS. I only say 3 on the road in the 2 years I had it.
I/we did consider an Evo, but its a lot more money and I was worried that it would attract too much attention (police, boy racers). Plus the Mitsi dealer did a cracking deal on a 10 reg RA.
However, like you I am thinking that by the time I upgrade the brakes and do all the other things I would like to do I might just as well have an Evo. So will keep the RA for a few years and then see if I am able to trade up to an Evo X.
I have ordered a HKS Super Hybrid panel filter for my car, because I can't help myself lol.

Well you are right there it would be a one of a kinde in UK but not for long pretty soon you might see one are two at the next parking event in that area along with a few vextra's lol.
But yeah it will take a lot of money and work to add all the needed things to make the car a real road car.
So you went with the panel filter should work good some thing else you might want to try is a evo x mas air flow sen housing and cone filter it works better then most cold air and wont mess with the mass air flow.
Also if you are interested there is a way around the evo x turbo swaps price by getting a bigger single scroll turbo and bulting it on and upgrade the lines and fmic it's cheaper and will give more power over stock with out the big price tag a few turbo shops online sell ra turbo upgrades that are direct bolt on.
To fix the sst problem amazon.com have good deals on racing clutch's and flywheels for under 600 for the set and around 600 for 3 to 6 puk racing clutch's.
But for the brakes you will need to get bigger rims, tires and the better Suspension to be able to house the bigger brake calipers and routers.
What diffrent type of ra are on sale there now I know evo x has the FQ300 FQ360 and the FQ400 for 300hp 360hp and 400hp?
Cheers

Talked with a sales man at mitsu RS and he stated that ralliart.com have a twin clutch upgrade for RA or any twin clutch kit could work with new flywheel to fix the torq slip from the stock because the evo x uses a diffrent clutch face then the RA to hold more with the hi torq.
From what he said it's just the clutch not the tranny that is the problem also stated his RA is pushing over 300 hp and he did the clutch swap and no probs holding the 340+ torq.

I got the HKS Super Hybrid Filter on Friday, it is the same as used in the FQ 360 and over. Its the same part number too.
Easy to fit ~5mins. I'm surprised at how much louder the induction noise is now, at higher revs you car really hear the car sucking in air! I've never heard a panel filter making so much difference. I think the acceleration is a bit stronger and smoother now.
