Anyone know how to see how much HD space is left on the MusicServer?

Supposedly, my MMCS has 40gb but after all the os for it & map for gps is on the HD too so you get maybe about 20gb-30gb of music server HD space.

Yeah, that's what I figure too. I was hoping there was to see how much space is left. So far I have about 50 CDs stored. I must be running out of space soon....

The thing I don't is get is why they would in such a small drive. Storage is dirt cheap these days.

More than likely, they are using a 2.5" drive. They require less power, put out much less heat and of course, are much smaller. The downside is you cant get them over 500gb really. But hey.. 500 it a hella lot more than 40 :)

This thing was probably designed and laid out 5-6 years ago wqhen 40 gig was baller status. At least the Navigation part looks like it was designed 6 years ago :-P

Kinda sucks that CDDB is out of date too.
Couple random questions:
1. Have you guys managed to get it to read an MP3 CD? It keeps telling me it can't read the disk.
2. Have you found the speed sensitive volume and EQ to make a difference? I don't really notice a difference between having it on or off or am I missing something.

I was surprised when I put a burned CD of some of my wifes mp3s in, and it ripped it to the HD. I read in the manual that it doesn't do mp3s...
So yours works more then its supposed to and mine works not at all. lol

the speed sensitive volume makes no apparent difference on mine either

That's the CD database that's included with the MusicServer. It's a list of (mostly) all the CDs that were released up until the date the car was made (more or less). Some newer CD's have CDTEXT written on them that the MMC can actually slurp.
