Hey guys,

I am a new here and my new car is going to be a 2011 Mitsubishi Lancer Ralliart (hopefully). I read about the leaked info and it seems I should hold out for the 2011 one. Although I know how to drive a manual it seems this Twin Clutch SST is pretty technologically advanced compared to other manufacturers semi-autos.

I am from Canada so the prices are really high $39,000(with taxes etc.) something according the the "Build it" button on the website.

I was wondering if I should wait out for the 2011 one or just get the 2010 one?
Manual or SST?
What kind of pricing should I be looking at?(I'm going to try to get that premium package for a really low price or free if i can LOL)
Anyone know the Canadian invoice pricing so I can work something out? How is the reliability for this car?
Any known issues? (for example the Civic SI has a notchy 3rd gear)

I have never owned or driven a Mitsubishi product before. I haven't talked to the dealership yet since i am waiting on the 2011 one.

I currently own a 2007 Honda Civic SI (which I am keeping for family purposes) I really want to be able to get a good deal from the dealership or else I'll have to get a 2010 Honda Accord which I don't really want to but it's a pretty good car and I can get a family/friend discount from Honda.

Thanks guys I really appreciate any feedback.

There will always be something bigger and better right around the corner...

Anyone know the Canadian invoice pricing so I can work something out? Not familiar with the price scale in canada. South coast mitsubishi has the low ball price that put them at pretty much dealer cost. I don't know if you can buy here and import or if that would kill the cost savings.

How is the reliability for this car? I'm over 26k and going strong with multiple mods...

Any known issues? (for example the Civic SI has a notchy 3rd gear) No major issues. The car (well mitsu's in general) are known for emitting odd noises but nothing that would affect cabin enjoyment.

Go test drive a 2010 ra NOW. Before you think about the accord. Don't do it! You'll be regretting it later like my friend that went from an sti to an accord...

Manual or SST?

I went from an Eclipse GSX to the RA and while I miss operating the clutch myself, I'm getting used to the paddle shifters and it's not so bad. And these kind of transmissions can shift faster than you anyway, so you're faster with the "automatic".

How is the reliability for this car?

I've only had mine since April so I can't report on thie RA, but my aforementioned GSX was pretty reliable. I didn't mod a lot, mainly the catback, but when a wear part would go bad (clutch, brakes) I'd get a performance part from RRE. Served me well for 12 years, I expect the RA to do similar (though I'd rather not wait so long next time!).

There is no manual transmission option coming for 2011. I want one more than anyone here, I wish there was.

Is Transmission swap with Evo X GSR possible? To make it manual clutch line & clutch pedal? Maybe GSR ECU too?

Wow thanks for all the information guys, I really appreciate it.

So far there is only 1 Premium Packaged Ralliart in BC which happens to be at the dealership I talked to. It is Graphite Grey and i got it down to $38,000 from $40,000
while an Octane Blue one non-premium $33,888 (from $34,950).

All prices are before taxes.

Which one do u think is more fair?
think I still have room to work with?
The guy said mitsu markups are really low.

thanks a lot guys.

It is hard to believe the RA's go for that much. I think I should drive mine over there and sell it.

$38,000 CAD is $36,000 USD. Man the price difference from South Coast Mitsubishi down here would pay for the plane ticket and gas money and then some probably. I dont think the Mounties would go along with it though.

I would suggest talk to multiple dealers before buying...espacially getting the top-of-line RA...it'll have a higher resale down the road...as far as the reliability goes...I think mitsu's reliability is comparable to honda's...it's for some weird reason mitsu is underrated in reliability dept...my aunt had a 84 mirage 3 door hatch she drove it for 6 yrs w/o problems...so as long as you keep it nice and greased...the car will last...g/l to you...and we hope to see you in ur new RA!!!!!

The "leaked" information you heard is a rumor that's been around for over a year. Mitsubishi hasn't actually said if any of it's true, yet the story was supposed to be from Mitsubishi's North America President. More than likely it isn't true.

What I'd recommend doing is waiting till the 2011s come out, and then buy a 2010. The prices for the 2010s will drop several thousand once then next year model comes out.

Well, that was sure true for me :-)

Just picked up a 2010 RA Grey, w/NAV, and Recaro Seats for $27,000, after $2k rebate.

Has 80mi on it, just drove it home, so far I like the SST-TC

Looking if there are any mods I want to make right away, but I think I may just drive it for 6 months and see how it goes.

Well I can tell you I drive my car all year long and through our gruelling Canadian Prarie Winters thru deep heavy snow and in temps that dip below - 36 deg C a lot of nights in January. I love the car as it has been very practical with 4 doors, full trunk with fold down seats, turbo and all wheel drive.

I do weekly trips for groceries and to Wal mart etc. and Love the car. The only thing I can say is I wish the Paint was a little tougher and the front end is pretty brittle pushing thru snow at cold temps. Duraflex here I come. I paid $ 38,900 for mine after a couple extras and the Tax including rust proofing, under coating and rock guard. 3M tape scotch guard and paint protection etc.. I did not want to spend an extra $7000.00 to get the premium package with the Nav, sunroof and Rain sensing wipers etc. Plus pay tax and interest on that amount.

Guess since the car is going into its 3rd production year that there will be some used models out there. Guess you will need to decide if you want to pay the premium for the new car or look for a deal on a used one that will more than likely save you over 30 % on average. Might want to hold off one more month and buy the end of January and pick up a new 2010 model at substantial savings LOl !

Keep in mind the Canadian Package has a lot more like The Heated Ralliart Recaro seats, HID headlights, heated power mirrors etc.

Besides it beats dropping between 50 to 60 grand on an new Evo.

Unless you near SCM/HBM. They SMASH all the prices!

NO manual transmission coming out. I talked to the sam the smasher at HBM and he said that the transmission wouldnt fit in the RA. IDK the details but thats what he said.
