looking for power

I have a 2009 RalliArt that is stock - I am looking to add power via an intake and new exhaust. Is this the best way to start? If not, what is the best way to begin adding power? New chip? Remapping the old chip?
I have an older car as well and am much, more accustomed to working on it. My budget is about $2000.00.

What is a pill?
Chip remapping as you put it is also commonly referred to as ECU tuning. The ECU in your car has a basemap or factory set of parameters that govern how your car deals with air/fuel ratios (AFR for short), boost, throttle position, etc. Changing the basemap will replace these settings. Its an aftermarket map that has already been tuned for specific conditions such as aftermarket parts (or lack thereof), fuel conditions and so on.

A boost pill is a small pill shaped item that changes how much boost the turbo will hold. More boost usually equals more power, if tuned and done correctly.

Search these forums for the word tactrix and you should get a pretty good idea. Also, the link wutangmo15 posted provides most of the instructions needed if you read through everything. In a nutshell, you download the new basemap from the link wutangmo15 posted onto your laptop (or run a long extension cord and setup your PC in your car), connect the tactrix cable to your laptop to your car and use a software like ecuflash to overwrite the stock basemap. Bing, bang, boom - you have more power. Well, hopefuly you don't get the bang and boom, but you get the idea hopefully... ;)
