2009 Dakar rally

Not sure if anyone in the USA is interested, but 2009 Dakar started last week in South America (moved from Africa due to terrorists). Right now Mitsubishi and VW are duking it out for the top spot. Unfortunately Mitsubishi is down to 3 Racing Lancer's due to engine failure beyond repair. Check out the official US page:

Thanks for that info, cool to know. I know Mitsubishi has been duling it out with Volkswagen for years at this event. How many in a row have they won?

A victory at 2009 Dakar would be the 8th consecutive win for Mitsubishi and 13th overall win for the history of Dakar.

They are 7th overall and just won Stage 13 first place. The first time they have won a stage in 3 years.

Maybe it'll motivate them to win more stages because they need to move up in the standings if they'll have any chance to win again.

No win for Mitsubishi this year, officially ending the 7 win streak. They came in 7th place overall.

There is always next year...but sad to see the streak end, especially since it is Mitsubishi's only corporate race involvement. We want them back in WRC!
