View Full Version : General Questions for RA

I'd like to buy RA but have few questions.

1. Number gained.
I heard RA ahs great potential in custom tune.
But what's the numbers should I expect? I think I saw RA with 260+ whp.
Can this be true from bone stock/very lightly modded RA?
My plan is bone stock RA + Evo X IC(maybe) + Boost pill(probably) and custome tune.

2. Tuner or tune?
I live at San Antonio, TX, and haven't seen many performance shop around here,
and I do not trust any getto mechanics.
And I need ability to go back to stock when I need, like service at dealership.
So I like to go for tuner, like AP, but what you guys think?
Is there any good tuner with canned tune what will work with Evo X IC and/or boost pill?
Is there any good/trust worthy shops around here at San Antonio tX?
And how much is resonable for tuner and/or custom tuning at shop?
(FYI, I am very noob for custom tuning processes/methods but can use tuners.)

3. Evo X IC
I found local guy selling his Evo X IC.
Obviously it is larger than stock RA, and larger IC is always better.
But what are true/acutal benefits/disadvantages from larger IC in RA??
Any gains?? Troubles? Hard to install?? Requires custom tune??

4. TPMS
I really hate stock rims. They are plain ugly.
Also I've heard stock tires are suck as well.
To swap those for other aftermarket rims/tires,
how do I transfer TPMS sensors??
For example, my current ride, Mustang has bands on rims and sensors are attached to them.
To trasfer them, I have get new bands, install sensors and tires,
and use Ford's TPMS reset tool to reset/calibrate the sensors.
How about in RA??

5.2010/2011
What are differences between two??? NOthing at all?
I heard 2011 has different style of antenna.
I went to local dealership, and they just told me there's nothing different
but as all ways, I never trust them.
Couple of things I concern from 2010 are why no engine start button and
why RCA jack instead of regular 3.5 pi stereo jack for aux input for audio.

6. Overall expression.
I need your expression about your RAs.
Any pros and cons will be appreiciated.
Even it is based on your personal preferences/situations, let me share those.
Especially, things for Sedan and sportback will be very useful for me.

7. Dealership among members
My plan is, sell my car, buy some sedan with cash, around 10k in cost for my mom,
and apply for loan for RA with down pay of around 5K.
IS there any memeber works for Mitsbishi delaership with forum special price????
Whta I'm looking for is Sportsback, white. No Recaro seats nor nav.

Whats up man I am from Austin living in California now and I know there is a performance shop around there that works under COBB check the COBB website they will give you the address and number so you can get a tune.
Also for the power you want you can get those numbers with FMIC EVO X a good BOV EVO X OR Go Fast Bits stealth FX boost pill and tune.
That should get you there.
If you want to be able to have a tune and then go back to stock if you fear they will check it at a service I am selling a COBB acc port fot the ralliart with the maps already on it and since you are on 93 octaine you should hit those numbers easy.

Check out my reviews for the BOV and COBB acc port below.

Numbers Game
1. Stock trim is 237hp to the crank which is about 196-206whp
If you add boost pill & a tune you'll be looking @ 222whp 232wtq

2. Tuner or tune?
Idk about TX but in CA I know of two Bryan@GST & Mike W@RRE.

3.FMIC does add some power & I had recently installed it myself. As far as how much power idk, I havent put it up on the dyno.
If you know how to screw/unscrew bolts, its not hard at all. Lower Intercooler pipe swap will be the hardest part of all of your Evo X FMIC swap.
FMIC cools down the ambient temp more than stock.
Cooler air = a bit of power.

4. TPMS
You can take them off the stock RA wheels & mount onto your new set.
Im still on stock rims so idk how it recalibrate..but I have replace my tires with another Stock yoko set.

5. 2010/2011
They have color dash, my 2009 has red screen on dash.
3.5mm jack vs L&R RCA? idk...

6.Overall expression
I love my RA. I have a sedan, but the sportsback are growing on me.
Sportsback can fit more junk in the trunk. :D

7. Dealership among members
Unfortunately, I dont know anybody thats work @ the stealership.
Your best bet is to go to Mitsubishi Super Store in LA. They are high volume dealers so you'll get the best price possible from them.

MTZL prett much covered everything (Like always lol), As for the tune. I went to Mike @ RRE with just an Injen Cai (Which i modified to Sri for good reason), And hit 260awhp with 280tq (With included boost pill). I believe i came in with 210 awhp and about 230tq. (Dynapack)
