just finished. 2500 miles. oil was getting kind of dark....

bolts on "belly pan" are 10mm. drain plug is 17mm.

yes , you will need to buy 6 quarts of oil. takes tad over 5 to get to proper level on dip-stick after initial run.

i used lucas full synthetic..purolator PL14459 filter

UPDATE.......... 5 quarts may be o.k.

that last 1/8 quart or so over 5 put me "high" on the acceptable oil level according to dip stick.

so 5 quarts may be enough to have level somewhere in acceptable range.

Keep all of your receipts in case you need them for a warranty issue later on and need to prove service. Just an FYI from someone that knows. I wrote service at the dealer level for 10 years.

definetly.......that is rule number one when you do your own work.

i always keep receipts for oil , filters, brake pads , brake fluid , tranny fluid , etc.

i have never had to "prove" anything , but you never know........

I had customers that I did need to prove maintenance for turbocharger replacement, so my advice comes based on that experience.

thanks for the info! I brought mine to the dealer this time but I'm thinking about doing the next one myself. I did my at 4352 miles it was way too late because the oil looked super dark brown and gunks floating in it.

As someone with many years of dealership service experience, I will say that if you can find a good dealer for your service, it's so worth it. If you need any type of assistance outside of warranty the manufacturer does look at dealer-involved maintenance as opposed to self-maintenance. It makes sense since they can only control and approve their own dealer service technicians...with home service you just don't have any way of knowing what you get.

Well DANG, is it 2500 or 3000. :o I drive locally and had the car since November. Just past the 2000 mark. I think I'm almost due. Going to the dealer on this one for the oil change.

Oh and one other piece of advice...purchase the Mitsubishi brand of oil filters, not some cheap aftermarket brand the may save you two dollars but not filter as well. Believe me I've had experience with this at the dealer service level and it's not worth it if you have an issue due to the filters quality.
