Strange Rattling Sound
 

So this just started today on my way home from work. Under medium acceleration I hear this strange rattling sound coming from the engine bay. Under light or hard acceleration I do not hear the sound. Only on medium acceleration and it does not happen all the time either. The car still pulls and drives normal. I hate to say it but it almost sounds like VTEC kicking in kind of sound. Could it be maybe my UICP banging against something or perhaps a heat shield? Any input is greatly appreciated.

So it is not VTEC kicking in lol. I had a friend from work rev the car while I looked under hood and could not recreate the sound or hear any vibrations. We then took it for a spin and could recreate the sound every other stomp on gas pedal. We can also feel the vibration coming from underneath us. I am suspecting something with the exhaust system or heat shields around the exhaust have gotten loose. I am going to have my cat-back put on next weekend and will have my mechanic take a look and see if he can find the culprit. Will keep everyone posted.

This happened to me, very annoying.

I run a full TBE from UR.

Last winter the heat shielding under the car got bent a little, and the natural slight vibrations from the exhaust started to bank against the heat shield.

Super Super annoying.

Did you ever get it fixed? I am getting my cat-back put on this weekend, so I am going to have my mechanic take a look at it. Hopefully he can fix it because it sounds terrible.

I just bent my heat shielding back in place.....
