that is not legit! how could it be? motion tracking technology cant be better then the xbox motion sensor or it would be considered military technology. which by the way company's cant make!

MTZL 08-24-2012 08:21 AM

It is legit. Not available to public just yet but will be soon.
This is an old technology. Private sectors fulfill military contracts all the time. Anyhow this is not science fiction it is a science fact.

If you really get into the technical aspect, you can build one yourself with little bit of creativity & knowledge.

well, its definitely crazy. The thing is, with all the xbox kinect fanatics how will Microsoft respond to the Leap?

MTZL 08-24-2012 09:02 AM

Microsoft answer is their new "SURFACE & "SmartGlass"

Yeah, I heard about leap motion too! The reviews are quite good. When we utilize computer systems as efficiency tools to improve the way we work and play, we do not want to be slowed down by a sub-standard input device like the traditional mouse and keyboard. Do you agree? Therefore, leap motion is the key! According to Wired, Leap Motion have mastered the motion controller. The fully 3-D motion control program will be bundled with Asus PC laptops and then other platforms. I never thought that this would be possible. Indeed, this is amazing!

Leap Motion IS available to the public. It was created by Batelle based in Columbus, Ohio where I am from. My friends were on the development team.

It was a massive project failure originally designed for security purposes. They found the technology could be easily "broken" into. It utilizes biometrics that can be easily fooled.

What you are seeing is their way of re purposing the failed project to gain some of their sunk costs.

I have played with this before, it sucks.

As far as the military comment mentioned above; Batelle holds the DARPA contract.
