If it was abandoned then the trans is probably toast. Minimum $5k rebuild at Kozmic in Texas so maybe not that far? They're the only shop that's reputable to handle rebuilding the SST. If they're close and the car runs I'd take it to them to have them go over it. They know the RA well.
