Default Sponsored whips.com Is it a scam or Real Deal?

I clicked on a link that brought me to both a face book and an actual web site that promised to get me sponsorship free parts, paint job, gas etc.. I filled out the application and Boom less than 24 hours later I get a phone call from a fellow calling himself Patrick goes on for 10 minutes about what sponsors etc they can get me etc.. then wants me to run down to the local Wal-mart and send him $200 bucks American via Western Union ASAP like in the next 30 minutes kind of thing. I told him I had to wake up my wife etc first. I then used the time to do a google search and it looks like its a scam but I want to hear if anybody else has heard about this site. It sounded too good to be true and if they are gonna have me sponsored why are they then asking me for money?? Did I mention they have an F rating with BBB.

Would like everyone to sound off on this please!

I have no experience with them personally, but they seem shady to me.

It's a scam and it's not a scam.

This company is more then likely a middle man like sponsorships.com. What you could be paying for is a service where by the company will either shop your car around to potential sponsors or he will put you into a groupons style network where you receive deals for 10-40 percent of products you may or may not want.

So if you thought they were going to overnight you free parts from Japan, it's a scam. But either way, don't arbitrarily send money to anyone (besides me) that you see online (send me money) because more often then not, you won't get what you thought (except me, send me money immediately).

In all seriousness, I do have some experience in the world of sponsorships and I could fill a forum with past experiences, dos, do nots and the recipe for how to network yourself into relationships with companies you want to rock.

But, at the end of the day I will say this. It is not worth it. If your goal is to get free or discounted products, you are far better off paying your own way, rather then being bound to a handful of companies. Also, it's a lot cheaper on your wallet.

It sounds too good to be true!

The only reason someone asks to be paid with Western Union is so there can be no recourse. Do you want there to be no available recourse?

Then again, if you had to ask if it is legit, it probably isnt :-)
