Wrecked my car
I don't really want to get into the what happened. What I'm trying to figure out is this. I slid into a curb. The FR cv shaft snapped at the joint by the trans. Also where the strut mounts at the bottom. Not the strut it's self but the lower control arm I believe it is. 1: what are the chances the trans is damaged and 2: how likely is it the car will be totaled if it is? I know through the dealer charges like $10k for a new one add labor and the wheels and other damage I'm afraid it'll total more than the value of the car. Highest value I found is from nada at $15,500. I just got my ralliart two months ago for $14,000 and put $4,000 down. I don't have the money for another down payment on anything. I'm rambling now so I'll stop.

Sorry to hear about your accident. I'm just curious as to why you are asking all of these questions. Are you submitting an insurance claim, and letting someone professional tell you what is damaged on the car, or are you trying to fix this yourself?

It's going through insurance and the Mitsubishi dealer is going to do the work. I'm asking because I'm trying to prepare myself for the possibility of it being totaled. Or am I stressing for no reason?

Whether you stress, or not, it will not change the amount of damage to the car. So whoo-sah, grasshopper, and deal with the situation once it presents itself. Pics?

No pics. It was dark and raining. Just imagine the FR wheel with like five thousand degrees of negitive camber.

No I hadn't done the GST flash. My tactrix cable is coming today.

if the cv shaft snapped there is a possibility it might have damaged the transmission. If it did then the car will be totaled. but depending on your insurance provider they might give you more then what the car is worth to purchase a one of equal value. You say it was vauled at 14k and bought for 14k and put 4 down so if your insurance totals it and gives you 14k to buy one of similar value youll be able to pay off the loan and have 4k for a downpayment on another. on the other hand you could just buy the car back from the insurance after they total it and get a transmission of the forums im sure someone has one.

Hmmmmm. From your other post it seems you may have been a little "over confident" in the capabilities of the car.
It's really hard to judge what the insurance company will do. Honestly I wouldn't stress over it. Just see what they say first. Good luck.

Thanks. I'll keep y'all updated. I asked the adjuster to make sure they take pics and document the repair process. He said he'll send me all the pics that are taken. I'll post up what I get. There's another major personal issue going on right now too so that's making this way worse.
