What an idiot! That car would not last a week up here. He would get stuck on level ground in some strip mall parking lot, the front end would be sitting in pcs spread out over 150 ft as he waits in the -30 deg temps for the tow truck.

Up here I change to stamped steel 16 inch rims with skinny 205 mm dedicated snow and ice tires. will see if I can dig up some winter pics.

Front end damaged last winter by coming off a frozen lake after several laps around the ice track was off roading to get down to the lake.

A few shots of my new winter rims and tires last Fall before it snowed LOL !

Rear wheel opening

Front wheel opening. You need lots of clearance because of the snow buildup.

I need more ground clearance so I don't get stuck this year.

The Start of Phase 2 of 5. Wheels, Suspension and Brake Upgrades.

I went and picked up a set of Evo X GSR rims tonight. I am gonna have them powder coated either with a prismatic powder or a chameleon powder then clear coated. Won't be putting them on the car til spring. I need to find a bodyshop to roll all wheel wells and possibly pull the backs out a bit. Will be buying new rubber come May 2011.

I am torn between which brake upgrade kit I should go with. Any help, suggestion or insight on this would be appreciated. I think the Works / Brembo kit is the most complete best set up but the 3 thousand dollar price tag makes me think I should be thinking time to trade in for an Evo.

Everything looks great so far! Just one thing though. Your rear mudflaps are crooked.

Get Evo X rotors & Evo 9 Calipers, call Mike W@RRE for custom brackets for the rear. Hopefully & most likely you will spend less than 3k maybe half the price.
Good Luck. If you want to thank me you can send me a set too.

Quick Explanation for the mudflaps. When I ordered them over a year and a half ago I ordered the ones for the Evo X. I had to drill my own holes but the mud flaps still did not stick out far enough to actually cover or protect the surrounding paint with them straight down. So since I stll had the back wheels off I drilled new holes again to allow me to adjust the mudflap to provide the most paint coverage giving it a sort of gun slinger flared out look.

This paid off big time as I do hit the back roads out of town all year round to visit friends and stuff. Other Lancer owners have asked me if I have repainted around my wheel wells and doors yet because they have had to bring it back to the Dealership on more than one occasion. I have since bought another pair of Rally Armor Urethane mudflaps but this time for the Lancer and all the mounting holes lined up and now they are straight LOL !. Sorry for the novel.

I also have the clear 3M Tape on the lower sections of my car as well.

Sharp looking car and I still can't believe you're only 3 steps of 5 in when you've got that much done. I've been pondering the fuel door myself lately, as well as the flaps (thanks to all the winter fun that's about to ensue). What did a set of the Lancer flaps end up running you?

As for the brakes, I wouldn't trust much less than the Brembos for stopping power when you're putting out more than a stock Evo X; I plan on going that route eventually once I get some of my bolt-ons done. As for suspension, I'm debating lowering it, but after seeing what that off-roading to the lake did to your lip....debate resolved possibly.
