The on-board computer or you calculated the fuel mileage from filling the tank?

on board computer readings.

it has got to be pretty darned accurate considering........

in order for the car to run properly it will know.

precisely how much fuel the car uses/needs , the speed the car is traveling and the distance it is traveling.

i figure it can do a simple division problem and calculate a fairly accurate MPG.

those are some great numbers....my MPG indicator has never gone above 24.5mpg.....even a 550 miles trip to Toronto cruising at 75mph I only got 23.9mpg

the trip down , which netted the 30.1.....average speed was 70.2 mph.

i have a works drop-in air filter , UR down pipe and UR big cat convertor.

i am sure those mods helped the motors' efficiency.

In my experience, on-board computers never read accurately. FWIW

i read an article ,back when i first got my outlander , related to the continuous displayed MPG feature.

it stated the reading being displayed , was being calculated using info from the ECU.

if that is the case , the reading would be pretty acurate.

Do the test yourself then and calculate a full tank of fuel against the on-board computer and you'll see.

I handled two fleets of one-year test cars (between 10-20 vehicles) with log books and my opinion is based on that experience, where I was able to compare directly the on-board computer against calculated fuel economy. The on-board always read high.
