That is your fuel pressure regulator hose. When the boost pressure in the intake system goes up, the fuel pressure in the fuel system needs to rise at the same rate. The ECU gets programmed assumeing that the fuel pressure is roughly 43 psi higher than manifold pressure. If it isnt, not enough fuel gets injected into the motor. IT IS SUPER IMPORTANT!

If that hose isnt connected, you dont get extra fuel pressure just when you need it most. You are running lean :-/

The intake manifold gets kind of hot right behind the radiator there. Also the rubber of the hose is kind of crappy and has no clamps on it. It gets stretched a little and loosens. Right about when you are raising the boost higher than stock, it is ready to hold less than stock pressure :-( It pops off.

Cars that get dynoed here we always put a zip tie on each end of that hose. Some I tug on slip right off. I'll replace those with a new thick walled silicone hose. This is a common problem with EVO Xs and the RalliArt is the same right there.

With that hose off, you also get a lousy idle with the big vacuum leak. The lousy idle is always a reason to check that there hose.

Check your spark plugs. If the tip is blown apart and or the porcelain is missing you will have a busted piston in that hole. Compression check confirms that.

everyone I know has been ziptying that hose for this exact reason. apparently it's pretty common for it to pop off. I would highly recommend that anyone who hasn't added some sort of clamp or ziptie to that hose, does so immediately!
