Back to the original topic, mind control is not what you need to worry about. Instead, emerging fields are looking at thought perception. There is a good reason for that, too. Psychology and many other related fields (Neuroscience) too often rely on self-report data. We are actively looking for a way to remove subjectivity from psychological research. There are many potential ways to do this. Unfortunately, there are many horrifying unintended applications for this technology. As of now, we can perceive potential muscle movements within the brain (general body movement sensing). We can also tell when you are not telling the truth. More complex patterns of thought might still be a ways off, but that is where we are headed. Once that happens, we are all screwed.

I am past the stage of my life where magic is possible. I am affirming your rightful position of skepticism and anxiety towards new fields within medicine and psychology. We had did some work for high tech company sub contracted by our government, which Im not allowed to say.

I can tell you technology is far more advanced than you think.
Behavioral monitoring systems that ties in with something like google smart glasses that display all kinds of info about the person in front of you.
Stress level, facial expression detection, tone of voice, body language, & many others that make my head spin.

We all only know what we are told.

In this day & age, especially with secret technologies, no one company is going to get the contract to do the job from beginning to the end.
