Default Will doing your own maintenance void warranty

I live 760km from the nearest dealer and I always wondered if I changed my own oil and kept receipts if it would void warranty seeing as I didn't go to a shop

No. Doing normal maintenance, whether by yourself or at an auto shop, will not void your warranty as long as nothing becomes damaged in the process. Unless I can't for whatever reason, I always change my oil and rotate tires, plus other routine things.

My dealership said it was fine as long as I kept a log book as to what was done and you simply write down the date and mileage for each item performed. I would check with a dealer closest to you to get their opinion also include who you talked to, their title and position, the date and a direct quote would always be handy. Such as I talked to Daren Smith the Service Manager on May 12th 2011 who told me it was fine as long as I do__________________. end quote.

One of the many thing I like about MMCS (Mitsubishi Multi-Communication System) is you can keep track all your maintenance. Under {INFO} button {Maintenance} touch screen button. Engine Oil & Filter, SSTF, Brake System, etc. I can keep track of all maintenance & have a record.

I dont plan to take my RA back to the stealership for any reason.
They lied to me when I bought my car Sunroof & additional accessories.
If I know more about the car than the service dept, there is no chance in hell I would take my ra back to the stealership for any service or repair.

To properly answer the question,
If you engine blew up because of oil leak caused by your own oil change. YES that CAN void your warranty.

I bought my car at Vickar and regret it as I found a great guy by the name of Rome at Waverley Mitsubishi. Wish I would of bought my car from him. I now cross the entire city and take 1 half day off work everytime my car needs service. No other choice as both dealerships within a days drive of here don't do service outside of Mon to Friday 9 to 5. Which really sucks. So I won't deal with Vickar way too many reasons to list. Yes I know they also own Waverley, but it's the people at Waverley that make it different.

I change the oil myself and when my Ralliart needed to get the timing chain replaced at 36000 miles (Mitsubishi has been having dealing with alot of prematurely stretched timing chains lately), Mitsubishi needed to see my oil change records and I showed them my amazon receipts for the filters that i bought for the past 2 years and I also had to tell them what type of oil I used (Mobil 1 5w-30 full synthetic). And that was all the proof they needed.

36K timing chain replacement? So your timing chain was stretched at 36K miles?

I will check my timing chain & do a how-to thread...

To answer the OP question.

Will doing your own maintenance void warranty?

It can, if something goes wrong with what you did.
if nothing goes wrong then you wouldnt need warranty.

Because Mitsu is so good at denying warranty. Kinda like the guy from "Thank you for smoking" the Spinner. (Aaron Eckhart)
