Exclamation

I've asked this somewhere before, but after reading this article I figure it can't hurt to ask here.

The TCU flash to get S-Sport seems pretty extreme compared to something like a GST basemap. Can a tech/dealership tell if an ECU (not tcu.. I guess? or does the gst flash the tcu also?) was flashed to a basemap, and re flashed to stock? Can they tell when/is there a timestamp? It would be a bummer if someone has unrelated problem that got lumped in with a "warranty violation" because of a basemap flash that had nothing to do with the problem that needed to be repaired.

Thanks!

There is just an ECU flash counter. The dealership does flashes all the time. If they wanted to make a stink they could. There was one guy back in the day who had a stock ralliart that he purchased from the dealership and blew his engine. They checked his car out and saw his rpm went to 7600+ (which is above stock value) indicating that his car was tuned. Furious the guy claimed that he did nothing to his car but purchased it brand new. So it could be based on the case there could be a stored "maximum" rpm value. Then again this is just one case, and it all depends on the dealsership.

Many users tune and take care of their car with no issues. As long as you do the proper oil changes you would not have much to worry about.

I have to take issue with the last sentence in #4:

4. Does the factory log cars known to be tuned by VIN numbers?

No. Mitsubishi has no way to know unless a tech calls them and tells them. There is no database connected to the MUT terminals. Also, they don't care enough to worry about it.

It is a well known fact that certain dealers in the Toronto area have reported modded cars to corporate via their VIN #, and those cars had their warranties voided. So yes, they DO care enough to worry about it!

It would be nice to be able to adjust that, but the quick and dirty at this point appears to be the tap method:

Crak you can add this to your How to
http://www.scribd.com/doc/7341282/03...ming-Procedure

I bought a MUTIII but it didnt come with Compact Flash memory card (with reprogramming data) (MB991853, MB992228) & CF card adapter (MB991939)

So I contacted http://www.obd2works.com/ to purchase just Compact Flash memory card (with reprogramming data) (MB991853, MB992228) & CF card adapter (MB991939) Update: $129.00 turned out to be wtf $250.00 later... still have to wait for shipping....

Since I have MUTIII in hand might as well play with it but ran into another problem.
MUTIII (per the manual) only operate on XP, I have Windows 7 Home Premium....
So I had to upgrade to Windows 7 Ultimate which I had collecting dust.
After the Windows 7 Ultimate upgrade, I had to install Virtual PC.
After Virtual PC, I had to install Windows XP mode.

After that, FUSO MUTIII software...
After the install, reprogramming features are missing/turned off. Back to hurry up & wait for
Compact Flash memory card (with reprogramming data) (MB991853, MB992228) & CF card adapter (MB991939)

MUT III Manual (I will just leave this here)
