Lightbulb Rota Torque Group Buy!

Hey Everyone! I'm going to try to organize a group buy here for some:

Hyper Black Rota Torques in 5x114.3 18x8.5 +35

I've done my research and this seems to be one of the best fits we can get this wheel in according to Rota's website. These wheels are replicas of the Work CR-Kai wheels.

Member "n my RA" has Work CR-Kai 18x8.5 +32 and he is very happy, he only needed to roll the rears even with lowering. Here is his thread: http://clubralliart.com/showthread.php?t=958

Keep in mind that his offset is 3mm more centered then the Rotas, so his wheels stick out 3mm more then what we would get. He is already poking a tiny bit so I'm thinking the +35s should be nearly flush.

I've also checked the EvolutionM fitment thread and this size is listed there. It states that you will need to roll the fenders, but considering n my RA has a slightly more aggressive offset and only had to roll the rears even with lowering, I am fairly certain that we would be fine with only rolling the rears. Here is the fitment thread if you don't know about it: http://forums.evolutionm.net/09-rall...s-fitment.html

I will be using WheelDude for this buy. Here is what they said when I asked about this: "A special order requires at least 3-4 people before we can get the order. We would need a $200 deposit each from everyone ordering and the process usually takes about 3-4 months to process, produce and ship to the states. All of the wheels will need to be identical in size, color and offset."

The price is $800 per set. You can also have them mounted and balanced (for free) on tires with TPMS sensors by WheelDude before they ship them if you'd like.

Let me know if you are interested and feel free to give me your thoughts on this and ask if you have any questions.

Yup. I hear a lot of the same about them. I'm honestly looking to go 17" for daily driving myself, and you rarely see anyone posting fitments guides on 17's. With as much money as I am going to dump in track tires for the stock rims, cheaper 17" rubber would be welcome.

In Spanish:

rota [ro'-tah]

article & past participle
1. Irregular of ROMPER.
2. Broken, destroyed.
3. Leaky, battered, or pierced.
4. Debauched, lewd, intemperate, ragged.

noun
5. Hole (en vestido), torn piece, worn part. (m)
•Nunca falta un roto para un descosido -> you can always find a companion in misfortune

Rota haters!

Have you seen this?

No one buy Work Meisters! They explode!

But seriously, there is no documented proof that Rotas suck any worse then any other wheel. The guy probably ran full speed into a curb or something. Its just because they are replica wheels that no one likes them but they are significantly cheaper and I think the Hyper Black looks a lot better then any of the dull CR-Kai colors. (no offence n my RA) And they probably have a flusher fitment.

Don't ALL rims break. If this is for daily driving I'm pretty sure it will
be just as good as any other high end rims.

I'm kind of annoyed. I spent a good amount of time researching wheels and I don't want some dude with a grudge against Rota to screw up my chances of getting the wheel I really want. If your going to talk crap about something, at least have your facts straight. If you were to research what ACTUALLY happened to those wheels, you will find that any wheel would have broken in that kind of situation. I went through about 10 threads from different car forums discussing Rota Wheels and they all had a general consensus that they were just as good as any other wheel. /rant

My point exactly. I've seen volks, work, gram lights, and enkeis all break.
In my opinion I think rotas are just as good. I guess some people just don't like the fact that they're "knock offs".
