Default Are you sure we cant use Evo X suspension?

Aye fellas,

Are you sure we cant use the evo x suspension? reason I asked after I got into thinking about the body structure. I work as a structure/frame repair for my local body shop and I have access to oem structure parts. I looked it up and the base Lancers and the Evo X have the same shock tower/ same part numbers.

Got me thinking, I understand the rear subframe, control arms, trailing arms are all different between the lancers and the Evo X but what exactly the reason why we can't use the suspension in our base lancers?

The front seem it will fit fine with the exception of brackets that holds the brake line. What holds the stock brake lines for the Evo x? The rear seem like it will bolt on but what the shock length from shock tower mounting to the strut eye bushing on the control arm? Does the rear shock hang lower than out Lancers?

I want to know the exact reason and I'm temped to try this swap to be honest.

No time to articulate, but you can't. Rears are too short and placed diff. Fronts are just diff, you can swap out the entire front end for EVO stuff, but not pieces.

I noticed how the rear is set up. The lancers shocks are mounted on the control arm while the evo x is mounted on the knuckles, hence why the shocls are longer?

My local dealer, SCM he's built an RA wagon front end into a X front end, as for 9 stuff, I forget exactly what's been reused, but I think it's axels or driveline.. I don't have time or resources to check.. Only mike at RRE would.. It was one of those comments. But, he sells more evos than anyone in America, so I'm betting he knows a little, even though not evrything. We use the 8 bov.

Sam at south coast Mitsubishi the cars in the showroom(huntington beach) If I ever remember I could take a couple pix..

Pretty sure he swapped the fronts for X stuff, susp, A arms, brakes and fenders etc.. So it's wider and can accommodate the Brembos?

I totally forget what he said about the rear end, other than the mumblings of there's "some 9 stuff back there" so I have no idea what parts that might be..

Sorry of any of this is wrong, but the car is out in the open.

Only issue is, one of the main plus factors for myself personally is the tighter turning radius over the X. so maybe I'd rather pay more for a custom brake kit, and keep the tighter handling... But, you'd get alot more options going the other route..

He posts his phone number on EVO x forums, and so cal EVO net..
