obd2 data readouts

hi all i want to get the plx devices dm100obd2 multi gauge,it plugs into the data port of the car. ha anyone got one of these gauges and if so is boost something that the ecu will tell the gauge or do i do it old school with a tee peice and vacume line to an older style gauge??????????????
