Have you seen the AEM intake for our cars? It's an inclosed airbox and uses the snorkel. I'm wanting to use it because GST has it listed on their list of mods for the base map. That and I like modifying my car.

While I agree with Romiton that the intake will net you pretty much nothing in the realm of performance, I can kind of understand people wanting to do it just for looks and sound. Having said that, I think it is absolutely ludicrous for someone to buy an AEM intake before they AT LEAST have a cat-back and larger intercooler installed. Those are things the car desperately needs, and will actually net real HP.

I understand you like modifying your car... as do I. I was just throwing in my two cents, and Drew seems to have further explained the reasoning on this.

By all means if an AEM intake makes you happy then go for it.

I also like modifying my car. I have an astounding amount of knowledge on the Ralliart, the engine, what mods do what, and how they interact with each other. I am the original owner of my '09 Ralliart and have been learning/researching/experimenting since the day I got it.

Was only trying to share my knowledge... I also like modifying my car, but I go for peak performance.

I'm trying to do what I can as money allows. I'm going to do a TBE with HFC but there's a time issue with that as the shop I'm having make it is only open Tuesday through Friday and I drive truck so that sucks for me. I didn't get the intake yet. I ordered the Injen UICP instead. And I'm waiting on markspd6 to get together an Evo X IC and LICP for me.

Yeah, the intake is probably the last thing on the car that needs to be changed.
Biggest gains come from a high flow cat (stock cat is the most restrictive part in the whole system), better as a part of a full turbo back exhaust. Intercooler also makes a noticeable difference, especially when paired with a better upper pipe (for better throttle response) and lower pipe (because the stock one sucks). Beyond these parts, you need to go to an upgraded turbo setup to increase the power further.

The Injen UICP is designed for the stock IC and will not fit on a car with an Evo X or better IC, so you'll either have to do cutting or upgrade the part again later.

I'll resell it. Markdpd6 sells a complete kit when he sells them so I'll have what I need when he can source me a good IC.

Ok I have another dumb question. To flash the TBE map I'm having a custom exhaust made up. I'm going to do an HFC. Now the stock cats are where exactly? I know there's a cat up by the turbo would that be in the down pipe? And is the second cat up under the rear seats? Do I need to replace both cats with HFCs or eliminate the one in the DP and just an HFC out back? I know it'd just be easier to order x y or z HFC and DP but the guy I have does really nice work for way less than ordering premade exhaust parts. And I like supporting local businesses. Thanks

If you have a cat under your rear seats, let him out before someone gets their taint assaulted.

Seriously, we have ONE cat only. And it is not "in" the downpipe. It is after the downpipe and before the cat-back. The stock cat-back has a resonator approximately where you are talking about. Maybe you thought that was a cat. But to reiterate, we have only one, bolted between the downpipe and cat-back.

Default 55590011 ROM Flash - Open ECU

I found out that my car is running the 55590011 ROM by using Open ECU. From doing some research, I've found that this ROM enables the flash counter on the ECU, and there are no definitions for it on the goldenevo site.

Has anyone had any luck flashing a GST basemap to this rom? I'd rather err on the safe side than brick my ECU.

EDIT - used the closest base map, flashed fine.
