Just thought I'd let you guys know in case I'm not very active on the forum for a while. I just started the Academy for a local law enforcement agency this week and it's beating the shit out of me so far, so if I'm not studying when I'm home, I'm sleeping because I'm worn out. Doesn't mean I'm not going to be on here at all for a while, just not as active as I always have been.

I've been thinking about joining the force lately.
Oakland PD 69k to 98k/yr

I just got done with a second interview.
I will be working as CSV contractor in a medical industry where they make catheters for cardiovascular.
Hopefully double my salary.

If this doesnt work out, Im joining the force.
If you cant beat em, you gotta join em.

How is it going with the training?
Did you get smoked & stunned yet?

I rather be paid 98k/yr to deal with BS than not getting paid 28k/yr & still pay 22% in income taxes to deal with BS & still trying to manage to live with 21k/yr.

I wish I only have to pay 13%/yr in taxes.

I am dealing with difficult people all the time.

I have been on ride along when I took law enforcement classes.
Yeah, you do deal with BS.
I can solve most of the problems without killing anybody.

Im still going to be working for the current company as a consultant.
I helped them design their data base, inventory system, scheduling system.
I also built their website. Talk about underpay.
Technical jobs are easy & anybody can get a trained monkey to do it.
Managerial jobs are only harder because you're dealing with people that have differences in personality.

How goes the copyness? When do you graduate the academy? As MTZL said money can make things easier to cope with. Or at least allows you to enjoy other things when your not at work Can you not release what county/town you'd be working for?

I got the job! Time to negotiate my salary.

Now if they pay me enough I can afford to go back to school.
Learn things that really matter. 60k/yr? hopefully.
I wonder what kind of tax bracket 60k/yr falls under?

I just heard CA is trying to raise taxes for people that makes 60k/yr or more.
Story of my life, People trying to get money from me before I can make it.
