Default Speedometer Calibration off

I've had my car for about a month and a half ('12 Ralliart), and just noticed this the other day after driving by a couple portable police radars and having my GPS hooked up in the car.

My speedometer calibration is off by 5km/h. Has anyone else had this issue? Should this be something Mitsubishi could take care of, and under the warranty?

I have no mods on the car whatsoever.

Thanks

GPS's and police radars aren't 100% accurate. Not saying that your speedo isn't perfect either, but it'll be much closer to the actual speed.

+1 with BZ comment.
Also depends on your overall diameter of the wheel.
Since you are stock overall diameter of the wheel should be calibrated to your speed sensors.

GPS can also be inaccurate based on elevation or slope of the road.

Nice to see another member from the GTA

Thanks for the input guys. Just thought I would check because my GPS and those radars always seemed to be right on with my speedometer with my previous car (Grand Prix).

GPS can be momentarily innacurate, but overall is going to be way more accurate than anything else.

Did you change wheels / tires? What size did you go to?

The speedo in my 09 Ralliart is within 1 mph of my GPS.

Not everything is going to be calibrated the same. I have driven a Police Interceptor with a "Certified Calibrated" speedometer and the GPS was still off. Not a big deal.

If you read his first post, he says he's all stock...

And I completely disagree with you. Out of the three, the GPS is probably going to be the least accurate. I would trust a speed trap radar over a GPS.
