There were instances when sst first came out where mitsu took off the tranny...send it back togetrag and getrag "fixed" the tranny and put it back into a new car...that where the etched in number came in...that tranny seems like a "repaired" tranny from getrag...

Trans back from Jack's and installed! Finally got to drive it today. All my issues seem to be cured. No more wobbly RPMS or slipping feeling.

Jack's was good to me. I originally asked for the full rebuild but they took a look at it and said it still looked to be in good shape with the exception of bad seals and recommended I just get the upgrade (which also includes replacing the seals). This was very honest of them as it saved me a ton of money. I would have paid (and was ready to pay) double for the full rebuild.

Do you have S-Sport? I am curious even after a rebuild to see if your 6th gear slips around 2k rpm around 80km/h

Mkid Thanks for the update as I think I will eventually have to send my transmission in to them in a few years.

I was reading through this build thread of yours, but most of the pictures or links to the pictures in the earlier pages do not work or do not appear. Is it possible to restore these links or pictures?

So...how much did it run you to get your tranny done? Shipping and all that included?

No S-Sport. Everything seems fine. Are you talking about how it kinda bogs down when accelerating in top gear at low RPM? I think that has more to do with being in the wrong gear than any trans issue.

The invoice from Jack's was $2,927.94. I also paid a friend about $600 to help me put it in and take it out and ~$170 to ship it there. So total for the whole project was probably around $3,700

Actually some RA's have it some do not. There is a rev hunt around 2k rpm, 6th gear. It just bounces around. Wondering if you noticed this at all. Would love to see even after a rebuild if the problem exists.

I don't think mine had that issue. At a cruising speed at any RPM it would sort of wobble up and down but that was about it. That has been fixed.
