Default Warning Light

A couple hours ago the warning engine light appeared. It's a ralliart 2010 and the light is a big triangle with an explanation mark inside followed with by a small engine sign. Does anyone know what this could indicate? I change the oil every 7000km. The car has 47000km, no modes, cars stock.

thanks

Timing chain stretch perhaps?

Take vehicle to dealership for diagnosis.

Look it up in the owner's manual if you have it. It will explain all of the warning lights.

The timing chain stretching issue is a pain in the arse, but it was addressed by Mitsu with a revised chain last year. Many have argued it should have been a recall issue, and I would tend to agree with that.

There have also been several instances of 2009-2010 RA SST transmissions having issues with clutches. New clutch packs are now available as well under warranty. That really should have been a recall issue as well.

That said, this shouldn't cost you a cent from a dealer to replace the timing chain if your have the paperwork showing the oil was changed at the prescribed intervals. Being stock doesn't give them the wiggle room to say a mod contributed to the chain stretch.

After you get the chain replaced, ultimately it is up to you to decide if you want to trade it in, since the car is 'junk' in your opinion.

1st thing, The car is not junk . Next 2009-2010 models have been known for the timing chain stretch, I did all my research before buying mine hence why I got the aftermarket warranty to cover these things. Also your warranty should cover the timing chain replacement.

1). You have had an Impreza and now a Ralliart, and you don't own a scan-tool of some kind? Might want to invest...just saying.

2). At least this car doesn't sound like it has developed a misfire 100% of the time.

As I was starting up my car on yesterday preparing to leave church I saw a triangle appear on the screan for a quick second on my 09 RA and it went away and I quickly thought of this thread. So I looked in the owners manual and say that if It comes on when you are driving take it to the dealer. It only came on once that I can recall and I was not driving. And for some time the oil signal also appears on the dash each time I start up the vehicle. I have not noticed any problems with the way my car drives but Just wanted some feed back if anyone else has had either one of these issues besides the person who started this thread thanks.
