Mitsubishi Space Star. Accelerator pedal sensor question.

Hi, don't even know if the Space Star is sold in the US but if so then perhaps someone could give me some information.
I am looking at a 2000 Space Star 1.8 Equippe as a possible buy. The seller writes that it has a 'throttle pedal sensor fault' as diagnosed by a local main agent, but car drives OK ?!!
How would this type of fault show itself and what effect might it have on how the car drives ? How simple /easy to rectify such a fault ?

I have asked the seller why he hasn't had it repaired but no reply yet.
All UK based of course.
